Some great men have lost presidential elections, who is your favorite?

I have to go with George McGovern. In WWII he was a bomber pilot who flew 35 combat missions over Europe, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The Air Medal and stayed in the Air Force to train pilots. Anyone who flew combat missions is a tough MF, regardless of their political beliefs.
Another high up on my list, Barry Goldwater.
BTW, I don't know of any great women who have lost.
