Change my mind.

It baffles me how people I once considered sober, reasoned adults can be so unhinged whenever Trump (or adjacent political issues) come up. I’m dead serious when I say these people have lost their bearings and are just emotional automatons.

I take hope with people like Toddy that eventually start seeing the light, but the mass hysteria is pretty scary.

I think that is incontrovertible by this point... assuming America has any hope.

There are a lot of people I know who think I’m a great person who cares about people. I know for a fact that if those people knew any of my political views or leanings they’d declare me a Nazi.

. . . and 98% percent here will be found to be pathogenic carriers.

Look in the mirror... he's in your heart, he's in your soul, you've probably made up manly pictures of this fraud, and here you are (yet again) posting away about him non-stop most every day.

What could be more: Trump Derangement Syndrome

It's just as bad as the Trump worshipping.

Some day, mentioning Trump will be declared an actual crime.

No need, medical profession already has diagnosed it and named it. LINK

Even have a place in Waco Texas to treat it
(Waco has needs between the Branch Davidians and Baylor University, lots of cray cray in Waco)

Ironically, and sadly, their behavior indicates they are the ones that actually *are* like nazis.

It’s called Cognitive Dissonance, and applies to all people in many situations:

quote:

In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance occurs when a person holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values, or participates in an action that goes against one of these three, and experiences psychological stress because of that.

It’s common with liberals because they are constantly faced with logical thinking vs their irrational nonsense.

It happens with conservatives too when you try to explain to them why the free market is better than government. Especially to boomer conservatives.

While some of it is genuine, I think a good bit of it is done in order to antagonize the folks who froth at the mouth at every mention of him.

You just reinforced my point. I made no effort to herald Trump. I have my issues with him, and if you review my post history, I doubt you will find me posting any fanboy crap.

That being said, your post is emblematic. If someone does not condemn him categorically, you segment them into some category of genuflecting sycophant.

I fully agree there are lots of posts like that here, but I also recognize that many of them are trolling the way Trump does.

The fact that you see no middle ground tells me my OP was not off the mark.

I work with a TDS victim. She is otherwise a normal person. I used to discuss her position with her. (eg the Charlottesville "racism remark which I refuted with the transcript). She tried one last time to lambaste Trump over something I cannot remember. When I began to speak she told me she did not wish to hear it. I told her I did not want to hear any more of her opinions on him in the future. I would remain silent if she would. Have not heard another peep about politics. We get along fine now.

I was telling anyone who’s in the mental health field and posts on this forum over two years ago they needed to establish a clinical diagnosis for TDS......they’d be fricking multimillionaires many times over by now.

When I hear people say that stupid shite. I have a standard reply. I don't smile and I give them the coldest look possible.

"It took Hitler years to kill 6 million. Put me in charge and I will have 60 million Democrats dead by Memorial Day. I'll make Hitler look like the B-team."

Then don't say a word. Just give them a hard stare. They usually just STFU and get away from me.

Online I usually just post this meme.

I don't think the far left or the far right know what to do with the moderates and independent thinkers. How is that for a sad statement on the future demise of the USA.
