Yes it is. Officially. That's not my opinion, that's what the SCOTUS says.

No it isn't. That was just the sales pitch to get it passed. SS has always operated by taking working people's money and using it to pay for non-working people's money in real time. Just like any other entitlement program.

The program started in 1937 and the first payouts were in 1940. But the first payees in 1940 got a full benefit. It wasn't their money, just like the money you get back isn't yours.

If they can spend money to fund somalian fraud, dem fraud, illegals, SAID, etc., they can find my SS money with interest, and al the money I paid into Medicare. Along with my companies.

There is so much wrong with your wholesale assessment of the situation. One being is today’s dollars in SSI payments do come close to the true value of remittances paid into versus if we’re able to no pay and invest. The % of people 65 that own a home comes from 45 plus years of working to make that happen. You are barking at the door, it’s just the wrong house. The outright fraudulent usages and the people who set in play fraudulent practices are the ones needing gutted.

None of us boomers voluntarily paid for Social Security. But Big Brother forced us to do it to make sure our retirement was "secure". Now TIGERHOLD wants to take it away, with no recompense.

He is no better than the straw man he complains about.

One day you'll take that thought to completion and realize the politicians you supported did it too

Charles Ponzi would be proud of your total misunderstanding of how SS and Medicare work. I've assumed that SS will cease to exist, probably the year before I retire, for 30 years, and I've saved accordingly.

Government sets the money you give them on fire; always has and always will. Get a helmet and get over it.

That’s a small share of the pie. Programs like SNAP and WIC are pennies compared to Medicare and Social Security

The issue is weak spined politicians that have been kicking the can down the road for 40 years.

The alarms on SS & Medicare have been sounding since Reagan and no one over that time have put in any meaningful systemic plans.

Bush tried to change the inventing options in SS but that didn't go far but any attempt to meaningfully impact it have failed.

Had small incremental changes happened over time, the impact would have been negligible and likely would have saved the program but now so many people have been setup to rely solely on these programs that the pain will be real.

I blame the AARP for most of the failures since their lobby is very powerful and they have always advocated to no negative impacts.

I'm OK with this but only after elimination of every "free" subsidy program first. No EBT, welfare, Sec 8, MedicAid, etc... MediCare and SS are not free.
