Never because the impending sanctions would collapse their country and kill millions.

I really hope smart people behind the scenes are moving critical manufacturing to Mexico/South America.

Xi sees himself as the new Mao, but actually has no real accomplishments to date. Mao united China. Deng brought HK and Macao back into the fold, Hu opened China up and accelerated its economy. Xi has done nothing except use anti-corruption to purge the party of his enemies.

Taking Taiwan would be an accomplishment that would elevate his status to that of Mao and Deng. I believe a Chinese invasion of Taiwan will occur in less than 5 years.

Made in Mexico.

This makes way more sense to me. Cheap labor, closer logistically, potentially slower illegal immigration, frick China, etc

Installing Brandon has accelerated their timeline. Brandon’s handlers have been successful in damaging our reputation, economic power and military readiness. Trump was unexpected, couldn’t be tolerated, and cannot be allowed to occupy the office again.

People here were losing their minds because of Trump’s tariffs costing woke white Karen an extra $25 bucks for her washing machine and you think we are gonna shut down trade with China?

Won't happen, because there's widespread belief in a "one-China" construct.

Every Taiwanese person I met was a one-China advocate. China will simply reincorporate its "renegade province"; there will be nary a gunshot to be heard.

Do you have any idea how hard it would be to invade Taiwan? It's fortified mountain island. China would easily lose a million soldiers trying to invade with troops.

Two-thirds of the Taiwanese coastline is comparatively level ground. And there won't be a sizable Taiwanese resistance when the Red troops walk right in on Taiwanese soil. They'll more likely be welcomed in with generous mugs of bubble tea.

If the conflict in Ukraine has done nothing else, it has assured us that China is not going to invade Taiwan.

First, the amphibious invasion would be many orders of magnitude more difficult than what Russia faced, Additionally, Taiwan’s military is far superior to that of Ukraine.

Nonetheless, Ukraine is fighting Russia to a standstill. China has no desire to embarrrass itself on the world stage by trying (and failing) to conquer Taiwan.

”Unfortunately for Chinese generals …Taiwan’s 770-mile-long coastline is remarkably unsuited for amphibious operations."

The US considered an invasion of Taiwan during World War II and discarded the idea because military leadership believed it would take 500,000 men and 150,000 casualties to do so, even given complete control of the airspace and surrounding ocean. China would have neither of those advantages.

Yep. Believe it or not, it’s gotten to a point where Mexican labor is actually CHEAPER and they’re MORE skilled than Chinese manufacturing.
