re: So we need 18 Democrats to vote no on impeachment for it to fail, right?

That is one of my favorite parts, one of their two impeachment articles charges the President with the crime of performing one of his Constitutionally prescribed obligations - obstructing the other two branches of the Federal Government.

It’s like her sole job was just to play spoiler. How do these a’holes sleep at night?

I think even if one Democrat votes against it, it will be seen as a failure. If there was a compelling case to remove Trump, it would be bipartisan. But the only thing that's bipartisan is the opposition to impeachment.
Jeff Van Drew, dem from NJ met with Trump last night....and asked for a jacket...he is flipping to the republican party.
Talk about going Maga, thats astounding...and outstanding.

Also, Pelosi determines committee appointment/placement and can make them so impotent along those lines that they barely have anything to go back home and tout in a reelection campaign. That's the quick and not-exactly-educated-on-the-issue version from me, but I do know that's a thing. The SOTH can defang members of her caucus and hurt 'em bad in doing so.
True Davy, but it might get them reelected and Nancy wont be speaker anyway then. How much longer can she last in office anyway.
The number 31 districts is mentioned many times. But Trump himself said, if a vote was taken today, it would be more than 31, a lot of close ones I would win now given the economy and other issues. Lots of nervous nellies.

Nancy is nervous as a nun in a cucumber patch right now.
She has the votes.
She knows it's not popular...that's been the case since the beginning.

18 Democrats to vote no
This won't happen. There will be at most 7 or 8 Democrats who will abstain, or vote "present" on articles of impeachment. Except for Van Drew who shifted alliances there will be nary a no vote.
A barometric indicator will be the votes of Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, Colin Allred and Lucy McBath. These three freshman Democrats represent mostly white, suburban districts in the South, and are in the "radical middle" politically. Each one has gesticulated support for articles of impeachment this week.

So for those vulnerable moderate Democrats whose constituents are unhappy, some outright angry, that this impeachment has moved forward, to the detriment of other business that the constituents expected their Reps to address a long time ago......when those constituents ask their Rep "What did you do to stop this impeachment circus so you all can get down to actual work?"....what will the Rep say??

According to this prediction market, three to six is what to expect. I don't know if this factors in abstentions.
Also, it's always fun to read the comments on that site.

It would be awesome to have it fail outright in the House.
You're right, but even if only a few Dems cross over it is a victory of sorts for the President.
It would indicate that Schiff and Nadler failed to make a convincing case even for those in their party.

The courageous stance perfected by barack obama. Now, there was a legislator with a backbone.
The more yea votes from vulnerable Dems the better IMO.

I am in one of the 31 districts and when I called to express my displeasure with vote, I was told Lucy M will vote for impeachment. I told her office I being working today to be sure she is not reelected.
That's awesome. Spread the word around your district. These reps need to be aware of what they're constituents actually want.

Blind a Trump allegiance around here shows true IQ. Same morons beating their chests were posting “ROMNEY STACCKKKKKEEEDDDDD, OBAMA FUUCCCKKKEEEEEDDDD”. Clowns.

Their comfort depends on how much ill gotten cash that they have stuffed in their matresses and how evenly it is distributed.

What is the source on this? I have only seen 2 publicly state their opposition. The same 2 who voted against the inquiry.
