You don't know much about how probability works.
The chances that the last 10 years are all the hottest even out of just 175 years if things were sorted at random is essentially 0. Which points to an actual trend
And if I use the last 20 years, its even more of a trend.
You are dealing with a data set that is a pimple on a gnat's arse relative to the paleoclimatic history of this planet (or even recorded history).
Sorry, man-made climate change/anthropomorphic global warming is complete horseshite peddled by the authoritarian left.

Same here. For 15 straight days, from Jul 6–20, 1980, we got over 100 degrees. And that was the actual temperature. Not the "heat index".
1980's heat dome, the summer that changed everything.

For the purposes of a statistical analysis, which you shifted to, it seems apropos.
It's because it's worth looking at.
Do you know what the odds are of the previous 10 years all being the 10 hottest years over a 100 year span is? It's so low it's essentially 0. The warming trend is in fact real.

quote:Yes, but what's baffling about that year is how people simply will not admit that humidity was low. Yes, it was 108 a couple of days...but also humidity was like 33%. I would take that combo every day of the week over 95 degrees and 80% humidity.
I remember it being hot in 2023.
Also, way more people die globally due to cold than to hot.

Interestingly the people dying in Europe aren't dying because they're stroking out in the heat of the day. They die because they don't have AC and if the temp doesn't drop at night there bodies never have a chance to recover.

It was 78 when I started cutting grass this morning, felt good. 95 when I got done, didn't feel good

This site has proven many, many times to be a source of info before the 'news' outlets get their hands on it. To state that this site is somehow being detached from reality is absurd and incorrect. I am guessing that you are locked into CNN, MSNBC, the view, and whatever.

Too late. The MSM is all over perpetuating any weather event now to be in line with the stint that it is 'severe' to comply with the climate change narrative. Climate DOES change and had always has so. But it changes in slow fashion - the attempt by the left is to connect recent weather events to human impact. There in all of our lives will not be enough data compiled to arrive at a decision on this. As stated by other posters, it gets hot and humid in the South - always has been the case. Two a day practices for FB in August with only a garden hose for a bit of water? -Young soy libs have no concept of this. The fact that the lib MSM has focused on weather events as they have over the past decade or so is telling.

I know for a fact that not until 50-75 years ago we did not have thermometers set at Walmart Parking Lots and Airport Tarmacs by these so-called climate scientists. I also know that many tracking thermometers that were formally located in Siberia and other colder climes have been removed from the studies.
Look it up. They have been caught and still push this BS narrative.

Bro as a child growing up here in the Bham area, it was north of 105 for like two weeks in a row in the early 80's...frying eggs on a sidewalk was a thing. This is NOTHING NEW and has zero correlation to anything other than randomness and normal summertime weather oscillation factors.

Already hearing about some event cancellations due to the “extreme heat.”
Thank God the men who forged this nation and secured our liberty weren’t afraid of a little heat.
Let’s travel back in time for a moment, shall we…
It’s June 28, 1778, Monmouth, NJ. Temperatures are nearing 100° amid a heat wave, with sweltering humidity. Washington orders General Charles Lee to attack the British rearguard as they leave Monmouth Court House. Lee begrudgingly complies, but he manages the battle poorly and the Americans are quickly thrown into a disorganized retreat. An enraged Washington arrives on the battlefield, relieves Lee of his command, and rallies the fleeing troops.
Washington’s troops repulse multiple British counterattacks in the blazing heat, managing to stave off a defeat. The battle ends in a draw, but the heat takes its toll. Soldiers in heavy wool uniforms suffer massively from heat exhaustion, sunstroke, and dehydration. In fact, more men die or are incapacitated from the heat than from direct combat on both sides.
But, sure…let’s cancel that concert in the park because someone wearing shorts and a tank top might get overheated.

Europe is suffering through its worst heat wave in recorded history.
This week, 3 dozen U.S. states will likely see record-breaking temperatures.
No, Mr. Trump. Climate change is not a “hoax.”
We must stop fossil fuel industry greed and save the planet.

Read this post today and it sounded familiar - "hottest on record/fossil energy greed" yada yada yada.
Did some digging and like clockwork - the good Senator puts up nearly identical posts every summer when it gets hot - dating back to 2016.
Here a sample of the last ten years - skipping several for brevity.
2016
August 16, 2016: "July was the hottest month ever recorded. When do Republicans stop putting fossil fuel profits over people's health?"
2019
( a particularly active summer for the Senator)
July 5, 2019: "It was 115 degrees Fahrenheit in France last week – the highest temperature they have ever recorded. Still think climate change is a hoax, @realDonaldTrump? You are delusional."
July 19, 2019:
"The past 5 years are the hottest on record This June is the hottest June recorded Thousands die in heatwaves around the world. Trump's ignorance is threatening the lives of our children. For their sake, we must stand up to the fossil fuel industry and build a green economy."
August 6, 2019:
"July 2019 was the hottest month in recorded history. Make no mistake: this is an emergency. We cannot afford to simply wait Trump out. Congress must act boldly to tackle the climate threat—the fate of our children and grandchildren depend on it."
August 16, 2019:
"It's confirmed: July was the hottest month ever recorded. How insane is it that our Environmental Protection Agency is now run by a former coal lobbyist? We must stand up to the fossil fuel industry and say: you will no longer dictate our climate policy."
2021
June 27, 2021:
Pacific Northwest "most severe heat in ... history ... 'historic, dangerous, prolonged and unprecedented'" per National Weather Service; "Yes. We have to act BOLDLY to address climate change."
August 12, 2021
(and similar August 13th and 21st posts):
"A huge fire in Siberia ... Greece: burning. California: burning. Oregon: burning. July 2021 was the hottest month ever recorded. We must combat climate change now." /
"July was the hottest month EVER recorded on Earth. ... how can we afford NOT to [act on climate change]?" /
Global fires, Italy heat wave, July hottest, unite to combat climate change.
2024
July 28, 2024: "Each of the last 13 months has been the hottest on record. This summer alone has shattered hundreds of heat records across the United States. Billions of people have suffered worldwide. Climate change is not a hoax. The future of the planet is at stake."
August 7, 2024:
"Last month, July 21 broke the record for the hottest day ever recorded on Earth. Then, July 22 broke the record again. Don’t tell me climate change isn’t real. We’re seeing it right before our eyes."
And - just like clockwork

Not surprised Powerman can't answer my question.
It's because there is no trend. He's fallen for the hoax.

When an organization is driven by an ideological agenda rather than a functional one, it can become insulated from objective reality.
