I remember it being hot in 2023. I’ll take the summer we’ve had thus far over that any day.

The people in Europe who have successfully pushed environmentalism and the fantastical idea of net zero emissions are effectively killing off their own countrymen as we speak.

Watched 20 mins of Weather Channel... you'd think it was the apocalypse.
And not a single hint of acknowledgement of irony that the previous RECORDED* high temperatures for many of these locations was in the early 20th Century.
* of course, these records only go back to the mid 1800s.

I'm going to draft a sternly driven email to our HSE department and tell them they're the dumbest people who ever lived for ever bringing up heat stress as a safety concern.

Right. The ten hottest global years on record are 2016-2025
Even with only 175 years on record, the previous ten being the ten hottest on record is an extreme statistical anomaly. That would indicate a very clear warming trend that cannot be denied.

"Let's see how many senses we can affect to get the viewer more emotionally involved", said the weatherman.

It's not hotter than it used to be, but my tolerance for heat drops every year. I have to fight the rage when I step out the house these days.

I worked landscaping in Alabama in the 90s, I remember weeks of 102° - there is nothing special or new about this heat we’re having. And they never used to display the heat index with scary red colors like they are now. I hope people don’t fall for it.
I'll give 2 notes on this.
1. Chillrins today don't know what it's like to play in this heat because their parents coddle them too much. We were made to play outside on days like this just like we did in the spring time.
2. That's become the media's job. To tell people how they are suppose to feel the next day when they wake up. And it's never good.
I get about 99% of whats happening in the world by interacting here. Outside of that I watch ZERO news whether its local or national. NONE.

I remember playing tennis for no good reason when it was about 100 in Statesboro.

That’s the media for you. We had a daily Covid death counter leading off every national newscast when DJT was president. That nifty little death counter magically disappeared once Tater Joe took office.

Yep. Now we have "Heat Domes"... whatever that is. I think it used to be called... Summer.
Its just a stationary high pressure system, but they need a fancy name for it. It has been hot as balls down in the Mobile area this week tho. It's 97, which is about as hot as it gets down here. It can get a little hotter but not much. Next week looks to be back around normal with temps in the low 90s. I'm ready for fall and football honestly.

We'll just ignore the flourishing vineyards of the British Isles back in the Medieval Warm Period or the fact there's not a mile thick sheet of ice on top of Chicago.
Also, get back to me when you can explain the huge gaps in data collection in Africa and Asia (Russia & China) or why computer models have never been accurate.

Reread my post.
The fact that the last decade is the warmest "global" temperatures out of a data set of about 175 years out of 5+ billion years is statistically meaningless.

You don't know much about how probability works.
The chances that the last 10 years are all the hottest even out of just 175 years if things were sorted at random is essentially 0. Which points to an actual trend.
Posted on 6/30/26 at 5:22 pm to Powerman
We're coming out of a little ice age. Is that the trend?
Posted on 6/30/26 at 5:23 pm to GRTiger
It doesn't really matter "why" for the purposes of acknowledging whether or not it is happening.
Posted on 6/30/26 at 5:25 pm to Powerman
For the purposes of a statistical analysis, which you shifted to, it seems apropos.
It would be statistically impossible for the last 10 years to trend down. Not up.
