I’d say it’s a bit nuanced

Shhh, let them dream a little longer

Who in government was involved in giving orders?

would there be any chips in the game exchanged should said recommendations/requests be executed?

That’s what it hinges on for you, there had to be orders or threats of penalties for you to think this whole thing is egregious as so many folks are asserting?

Serious question. I keep seeing stuff about government and 1st amendment. Who was in office or working on behalf of the govt and involved in ordering stuff get taken down?

If not for Carlos Slim (a foreign billionaire) bailing out the NYT would have gone bankrupt years ago.

Or just make recommendations/requests?
uh, the only word used in the first amendment in regards to free speech is "abridged"
quote:
abridged - diminished or curtailed
So a recommendation/request by govt officials that is agreed to, most certainly violates that line in the 1st amendment. No threat of force need be involved
Its the same as if a police officer went to your bank and politely asks to see the contents of your safe deposit box, and they agree. No civil right is violated, if there was no threat or penalty implied?

Elon Musk really is the modern day real life John Galt. What he’s doing though his takeover of Twitter and subsequent tweets is equivalent to Galt’s taking over the radio airwaves to expose the evils of the elites and how they control the populace with corrupt government bureaucracies. And like Galt, Musk had laid the groundwork to solidify his wealth and legacy enough to not give a shite what the gov’t does in response really.
He even invented (or at least revolutionized) an electric vehicle like Galt.
