He graduates next year and wants to go Air Force for computer and data/intelligence stuff.

A year ago I would have been absolutely ecstatic and proud. But with the crap going on in the military now and where things are headed I find myself wanting to talk him out of it. I feel horrible for thinking that but I just don’t want him serving under the administration we have and going though all the bullshite that is hitting our military; I fear it will get worse.

Anyone else have this conflict going on? How are you handling it? I’m proud my boy wants to serve but this ain’t the military we used to have.

White people have no business fighting for this perversion of a country.

Eh, honestly now I’d probably advise against it. Post 9/11 GI Bill is legit though so if his intention is to get in, get out, use it as I did it’s not a bad idea.

If you raised him right, he should be able to overlook a lot of the attempts to brainwash him.

So where's he gonna go, if not the AF. College. Job. Same crap, different local. Let him join the AF. Do him good.

Convince him to join the National guard.

Is that any better? He wants to go
Military and get his college degrees while serving 20-25 years. He’s set on computer stuff and they have a good program but it worries me

Still a great idea regardless of the politics. I would encourage it and not hold him back. If this is what he wants to do, the only other branch I would encourage is the Navy. That path will set him up for a very long time.

I have tried my best. He is wicked smart and loves his country. He declared himself a Republican years ago when I was still working in the other party. So he’s smarter than me!

As someone with two years until I retire, I highly recommend he goes to a trade school. Give the military a few years to see if it continues the direction it is going. If it continues this trend after a few years, he will not be apart of it fortunately.

I loved my service, but I will not allow my kids to be apart of the weird shite they are doing right now.

I have a Navy background and would love for him to go there. But he had studied all the options and the Air Force seems to be the best for him. But I have concerns

I say this, once it's too late or is no longer reasonably feasible depending on various life circumstances, the window will have passed and regret can be heavy. Any "woke" aspect or element of the military currently doesn't necessarily have to play a prominent role in your son's overall experience. The same old elements of sense of pride and duty to country hasn't changed, mainly because that essentially a matter of personal perception by your son. In addition to the benefits of hard-earned discipline and life skills that will be of advantage throughout his life. IMO, if he persists in the urge to join, give support. Again, JMO.

**Source: a uniquely relevant viewpoint on the matter.

Very good post. He has put thought into this for a couple years and done his research and such. I’ll support him in whatever decision he makes of course. I know he wants to serve and that makes me proud

I don't agree with this at all. I am currently at the end of my career and its just not a place I would trust with my children right now. For example:

The Navy is essentially penalizing sailors if they aren't vaccinated by starting a random COVID test every two weeks of only the unvaccinated. Until command vaccinations reach 85 percent.
