It's Shreveport and Monroe. Bossier and Ruston are doing fine.

The other black mayors who got in bed with TA are trying to hold on to what they think is power. Tarver will prevail and prove to them who the most powerful black man is in the City of Shreveport.
Tarver will unite the black community in a landslide win.
I just don't get that feeling.

Primary Results:
Republican Tom Arceneaux 14,709 28.46%
Democratic Gregory Tarver 12,202 23.61%
Independent Mario Chavez 9,458 18.30%
Democratic Adrian Perkins (incumbent) 9,090 17.59%
Democratic LeVette Fuller 5,029 9.73%
Democratic Tracy Mendels 379 0.73%
Democratic Darryl Ware 298 0.58%
Libertarian Lauren Ray Anderson 233 0.45%
Republican Melvin Slack 147 0.28%
Independent Julius Romano 132 0.26%
Total votes 51,677 100%
Put Arceneaux's 28.6% with Chavez' 18.3% and you're at 46.76%.
Fuller and Perkins endorsed Arceneaux so you only have to pull 3.25% from their combined 27.32% to get over 50.1%.
Now let's look at turnout. Shreveport had 51.677 total votes in the primary. Only 7000 early votes have been cast in the runoff. That's low and we know early voting favors democrats.
As I mentioned, Arceneaux's voters are motivated and Tarver's are more lack luster. Sprinkle in the rain tomorrow and I don't see how Arceneaux loses.

Black churches and preachers don’t bother with the first round of primary elections. They organize for the runoffs. Be careful pulling numbers and percentages from November elections because historically the December turnout nullifies those numbers.
Tarver is ahead in early voting, and I’d be shocked if those numbers don’t increase throughout Election Day tomorrow.

Both POS politicians nothing will be gained.

"That's why JBE supports him". Tarver & EWE were in bed together going back decades. He's as corrupt as any of EWE's cronies.

Arceneaux won early voting 6,578-5,157 (56%)
There's 5 precincts in so far
Highland Line Av area: 200-29 Arceneaux
Queensborough: 114-22 Tarver
Hollywood/Linwood: 157-27 Tarver
Allendale-Lakeside: 71-11 Tarver
Fair Park: 115-30 Tarver
Black vote is overwhelmingly Tarver at this point. Not a good trend even though it's a small sample.

John Couvillion just called the race for Arceneaux. Did Shreveport actually elect a Republican mayor???

Target has already given a concession speech

A republican mayor endorsed by the last 3 democratic mayors so I’m not sure what they’ve actually accomplished.

100% reporting

Tarver 16,040 43.63%

KSLA has called it for Arceneaux 56% vs Tarver 44% with 99% reporting.

Tom is a lifelong Republican and a strong Christian, but unlike many in that crowd he is not racist at all. He will likely have as many black folks in his administration as a democrat winner would. He is a good, honest guy.
The city is broke, so I’m not sure anyone could do much to turn it around, but Tom gives us as much hope as possible.

I voted for Tom but doubted entirely he would win. I am very, very glad he did. Tarver is so corrupt.

They all had an axe to grind with Tarver. Obviously Perkins, and I’m sure Tarver and Heavy G didn’t play nice down in Baton Rouge. My bet is that it was more of a ‘frick You’ to Tarver than a ‘Arceneaux is the right man for the job’. Regardless, I bet that was the tipping point.

The incumbent was so widely despised that the overwhelming majority wanted him gone.
That opened the door for Areceneaux and other candidates to rally support. Perkins tenure also created rifts within local Dem and Black political circles. There wasn’t a unified front, which is unprecedented with an incumbent mayor.
Tarver has a lot of enemies, especially locally. Tarver’s legislative agenda in BR often clashes with local Democrat’s plans.
Democrats couldn’t rally behind Perkins. Republicans did with Arceneaux, allowing him to make the runoff. Then Democrats couldn’t rally behind Tarver either. A perfect storm.

Yeah, but even Perkins endorsed Arceneaux at the end. He even thanked him in the acceptance speech.
And I missed this thread so I just launched another thread on this subject. My bad.
