I can see both sides of it. On the one hand I don’t like the idea of this kind of an apointed body making major decisions that will impact all Americans, on the other hand I don’t think we should be making decisions on interest rates based on the short term goals of politicians. What say you?

I don’t really vote democrat as much as I don’t vote republican. I vote 3rd party half the time.

How is anything government related considered independent when human beings with opinions are involved?

It's the only way. And while we're at it, scrap the FDIC, too. It only encourages banks to make risky loans at the taxpayers' expense.

Why? What does the fed do that you can’t live without? What does having a central bank having so much control over our economy do that is so important?

Why? It allows the Congress to borrow at will and we get stuck paying for stupid shite.

other than setting its actual policy goals, yes. unless they're clearly doing things counter to what would achieve those mandated goals

The Fed is a weird animal. It's a private/public organization.

On a day to day operation they are not governed by anything from the political world, but the Chairman and other heads are appointed by the Executive Branch and that is the extent of it....at least as the party line goes.

Why do you ask? I know right now people are bitching about the rise in interest rates, but sooner or later it was going to happen. Wall Street can't have free money forever.

As I said in another thread:

The Fed is not only unconstitutional, it is a power arm of the BIS. Anyone who doesn’t know what the BIS is or how it is insulated from any liability or prosecution from ANY country needs to do some independent learning.

The Fed is a set up to erode quality of life in order to make control of people easier and the those in control richer and more powerful.

Every American should know about this

I predict the establishment/never Trumpers will deliberately sabotage the economy before 2020 election.

so you're predicting a recession in the next 27 months or so?

I think the general consensus among economists and investors is a recession in 2H19/1H20

It’s a waste of gas to drive to a polling site to vote 3rd party.

so is this "prediction" of pre-election economy-sabotage really just a preemptive excuse?

The mandated objectives are:

1. maximum employment
2. stable prices, and
3. moderate long-term interest rates

Seems rather subjective.

You really need to get off the crack pipe. The Federal Reserve is one of the owners of the BIS and if you don't have something of a central bank especially in today's world, you are going to have financial chaos every 5-7 years and you would have a harder time getting loans and emerging counties would not be "emerging"

I get it, you want a world of free banking like the period between the civil war and 1913
