Should race matter to Christians?

Came across this post yesterday from a pastor.
I'm wrestling with this. When a Christian sees that picture from the Texas game, are we supposed to care one way or another what race they are?

Christless "conservatism" would death-spiral into the abyss, just like the already-Christless progressivism has. The center cannot hold.
And often, people are doing #2 and being accused of doing #1.
There's a difference between a religion and a race, and there's nothing wrong (actually, in many cases there's a *lot* wise) with not wanting certain belief systems imported into your country en masse.
And (downstream of the Biblical differentiation in the roles of the individual, family, church, and state) there's not anything wrong with the citizens of a country opposing the leaders of a country allowing mass migration to happen in a way that hurts their culture, school systems, effects scholarship and job opportunity availability to citizens, etc.
Christians CAN have debates about immigration policy and it not be "racist" at all... and all Christians are commanded to love and pray for the redemption of all people from every tribe, tongue, nation, and language, nailing every type of "malice" in their hearts to the Cross.
I'm wrestling with this. When a Christian sees that picture from the Texas game, are we supposed to care one way or another what race they are?

Sure, but he doesn't make any argument as to why Hinduism is a threat.
He's conflating the "Islam" argument with Indians/Hinduism, which is somewhat ironic given the anti-racism message his post contains

I don't understand hate for Indians. Highest marriage, employment and income levels of any demographic. Have several on my street and they are good neighbors. If you want to complain about immigrants, focus on the destructive element.

My take - go down the chain of interrogating your own beliefs and motives. I think many/most Christians who do that will conclude their reaction to this (if they have one) is not that they hate Indians or similar, but that this is a representation of something they feel is unjust, something that has been lost, etc. all without their consent or participation. If you do that and conclude you're genuinely mad/upset/etc. because the faces were brown, it's a different story. I'm not sure your initial reaction in that manner is problematic, but it is a good exercise to assess why that is.
I also think Christians who don't have a reaction to it would be well served to interrogate that too. That's not loaded - I'm not saying Christians have to care about that picture. I think Christians should care about what is happening to their country, why, and whether it's good. That picture may or may not bear on it. But I think a lesser storyline here are people who look at it and have a knee-jerk, almost automatic training kick in that says "this is good I need to defend this." I don't think that necessarily relates to Christian beliefs/ethics (it could) but I still think it's definitely worth doing.

If all those Indians were Christian, I wouldn't care what they look like. But, they likely aren't, but are bringing their Hinduism and Islam with them when they come here.

Leviticus 19 echoes a pretty similar sentiment so it feels a little bit of picking and choosing from Howerton IMO.
This does not mean you can’t love your country and that you shouldn’t still uphold the laws in place.
I can also guarantee you that some of those Indians in that picture are believers in Christ. Howerton sometimes IMO, seems way to focused on the politics of things and lets that dictate his biblical viewpoint vs letting the Bible dictate his political viewpoint.

I suspect that a lot of people are mixing "why are they here" (a very fair question) with "I don't like them because they're Indian." People have credible complaints about various practices common in Indian communities that may be legit, but I think a lot of it is just somewhat misdirected animosity (which should go to those paving the path for the influx rather than the Indians themselves).

Indians are sub 2% in both TX and the US.
