It’s just not going to really matter or come to any consequence as it relates to the outcome in voting. It will long be old news by the time people go to vote and there are a considerable amount of other factors that will hold more weight as opposed to Paxton not engaging in a debate.

early voting starts monday so this week would have made sense for a debate

Well, if Paxton ends up winning then the power he will have will nullify any real or perceived embarrassment.

It’s a bit dramatic because from my perspective I see accountability as having to do with obligations or requirements. Debating is optional and so any inferred obligatory participation and accountability to that metric is based on opinion, not on the rules of campaigning and the electoral process so to that end there’s nothing that he really needs to be held accountable for insofar as this particular subject is concerned. On the other hand, if we only consider that you mean in a subjective/moral sense of the word, then if he ends up losing then I believe that would serve as an appropriate form of accountability how you’re meaning it, whether or not his participation/non-participation had anything to do with the loss. If he ends up winning then any perceived subjective/moral accountability justice that is being proposed becomes moot as he will have accomplished his goal of winning, to circle back to my first sentence. That’s all I meant.

You have to consider the fact that it's a very realistic possibility right now.

If Paxton garners somewhere in the area of 55% that would mean Freako would be in the area 45%. So yes, it's going to be pretty close to double digits.

you have to go back to 2014 Cornyn to find a senate race that the GOP got more then 54%

The cope in this thread is crazy.

How is there nothing to be gained from it?

If Talarico is really as asinine in his beliefs, ideals, and proposed policies it shouldn’t be a problem to debate.

Think it says more about the state of the Republican Party that many candidates are refusing to debate than anything else. They know they probably can’t win a debate cause they have very little success to stand on over the last two years.

Same with Letlow refusing to debate Davis despite the general public really having no info about her.

It’s easier to project and throw bs political ads up than it is to stand and debate when you have no substance or success while in power. While your party is in power I should say.

Are you insinuating that Freako is a better candidate than David Alameel?

Realistically, the only thing that matters to someone actually trying to win an elected office is just that: winning the race for the desired elected office so they can go into power. If not participating in debating is a part of that strategy and they win then the ends justified the means in that instance. If they lose then what you say is lack of substance or success while in power is exposed and what you claim becomes truth. It all comes down to who wins and who loses.

If I were Paxton, id be begging to debate that freak-a-zoid. It would be a joy to make that fool look silly.

Totally fair here. I guess I was looking at a different side of the accountability.

I have accountability partners through church who help hold me accountable on what I see as obligations or requirements. I also will ask friends to hold me accountable sometimes on things I should, but don’t have to do. For example, this year I said I wanted to have 12+ intentional dates with my wife where I don’t look at my phone the entire time we’re on the date.

That’s not a requirement, but something that I would like to do. That’s more of what I meant here. I think this is something that should be done, but agree it’s not an obligation.

And Beto was a far more viable candidate than Freako.

There's nothing Paxton can do to win. He is toast and will probably lose by 5 points at least. Texas is no longer red and will turn bluer with each election.

you replied to me about 2024 and brought up beto, dumbass

Saying Beto was better than Talarico is a cope. Beto was shallow talking points repeated over and over again. Only people that did see straight thru it was white women because he is tall. They are more or less equals and Talarico has a much more favorable enviroment than 2018 economy vs an incumpant

Paxton isn't cruz either. Cruz doesn't shy away from cameras and fundraises like crazy.

Yeah, I doubt Paxton wins by double digits, it is quite possible he squeaks out a win. If Tallywacker is the choice of Texans for the direction of their state that shite ain't on nobody's plate but Texans.
