I read an article quoting the guy's brother. He says the shooter had no religious or political affiliations that the family knew of.
Then turns right around and says that they didn't speak to him much so who knows how credible that info is.

I don't think these statements are contradictory. In the bother's mind I think he is talking about his experience with the shooter which seems like not much later into their lives.

I'm usually not one to go all tin foil hat on everything that goes on in this world however I do believe that it is very possible that when crazy events like this happen that it's not out of the question for certain narratives to be sold to the public for whatever the reason might be. I find it somewhat hard to believe that this guy acted alone (and maybe he did) but it's eyewitness stories like this that make you really wonder.
