Seems clear after the stairwell photos were released and he knew he was about to get caught the shooter started trying to manufacture evidence to make his friends seem innocent.

The handwritten note and the online message to his friends confessing seem to have been intentionally manufactured to be used to try to show the friends and roommate were not in the know.

They may have been scared and calling him concerned they would be taken down too so they guilted him into leaving these bread crumbs to try to insulate them.

The thing that raised my eyebrows was the use of the word “drop point” to his roommate in relation to retrieving the rifle. It’s not typical conventional vernacular that regular people commonly use. It feels more at home in a military setting. That’s absolutely not to say this idiot was any sort of military asset, but that these idiots have deluded themselves into believing they are fighting Nazis and damn near storming the beaches of Normandy. So in that mindset it makes perfect sense why him and his delusional roommate are discussing drop points after a political assassination.

It's just a matter of time before all forensics are analyzed and everyone complicit is identified. They can't hide.

Could be he was co templating suicide and wanted to insulate them and make it appear it was a lone wolf

Everything before seemed fairly well planned and thought considering it’s an amateur gamer. But that note and message chat room confession seem out of place and self serving

One question I have is who supplied the gun.

This is absolutely what happened. They honestly believe and have been indoctrinated so strongly that they cannot differentiate reality.

It’s kind of sad and pathetic if you think about it.

Why wouldn't they? The TV, their teachers, their friends, and everyone else has been telling them this for years.

After law enforcement milks the roommate and possibly other for information against the shooter, they will charge them with accessory, it would be a dereliction of duty not to.

Wasn't it reported that the dad had to talk him off the ledge, so to speak?

the note was written to his boyfriend prior to the event. (i've not seen anything saying a specific time frame. It may have been same day or two weeks prior)

the note was destroyed. the language they used last night was "we can affirm there was a note"

but I agree with last message to his discord group was to separate.

I don think they have confirmed what gun it is.

Just a high-powered bolt-action rifle. They can buy that at Academy.

Now if it was an old mauser, then it was probably taken from a family member or something.

This kid wasn’t some sort of elite soldier.

A 30 odd 6 can easily take a target out at that range

You have more faith in the FBI than I do. Maybe the state of Utah can do a better job?

I don't know how effective Snowden was at handcuffing the NSA, but the government once had the ability to capture practically all digital info. If so, the conspirators' group chats could still be found, no matter how many post-shooting exonerating/distancing notes the POS left.

I do believe, other people knew about it and assisted him.

Im expecting to see some other involvement, either like the other posters say, training, planning, or general knowledge before hand.

But until they say elsewise, its all on him at this point.

Yep, I’ll never forget the opening moments of “Saving Private Ryan” when all the transgenders and gays were making that landing.

Powerful stuff I’m sure they harken back to for inspiration while bravely fighting all these GOP Nazis and people who have the audacity to exercise open debate of ideals.
