I know this is off topic s bit, but I want to share my experience with shingles! A few years ago, allowed a good friend of mine convince me to get the shingles vax! A few days later my body was ravaged with shingles! My point is, if yes or no are my options for any vax, mine will be a resounding no!

I agree with many posters here, shingles is brutal, and I would probably take 4 or 5 Covid cases over getting that. My first shot just had arm sorenesses, second one the same plus sluggishness that night, but woke up just fine. Glad I did it, and I didn’t even have to change my avatar to the Ukrainian flag.

I had the shingles vax. It beats the Hell out of getting shingles. I felt bad for a day after the first shot, but nothing after the second.

I took the prevnar for pneumonia.
I had no choice. Kept getting pneumonia. I was AT RISK.
I Had Covid three times. Survived it.

Get it. Shingles is utter misery. Side effects short term and minimal. My side effects injection site soreness for a couple of days.

At my annual physical in 5/2018, my doc talked me into it as he said he'd just given it to both of his parents. Did it at that appointment and within an hour it went from feeling like I gotten a shot in the arm to feeling like I had gotten shot in the arm, maybe 9mm. As the day went on, it "upgraded" to .45 ACP. The following afternoon, I started feeling feverish, weak, and generally unwell; it was really uncomfortable. Symptoms lasted 4 - 7 days.
The vaccine was in short supply at the time, such that it took me a year and a half to find a drug store with the vaccine in stock for the second shot. Repeat the original symptoms for about the same duration. The first shot was so bad and the vaccine became so hard to find that I nearly said screw it. Friends reminded me that shingles can be really bad, can recur, and can lead to blindness or hearing loss if it gets in you eyes or ears. That convinced me.
Silver lining for me, or so I've heard...a more severe reaction to vaccines in general means you have a strong immune system as the reaction you're experiencing (assuming it's not allergic) is you body's defenses/immune response rising for the fight.
As for me an vaccines, I had the typical childhood shots, the first two doses of COVID but planning not to get any boosters, and I've never had a flu shot.
YMMV, but the above is my experience. Questions/concerns are probably best addressed with your doctor.

I have an elderly member of my family who got shingles in Sept and still dealing with it.
Sad part is she had an appt set to get the vaccine a few days after her breakout. Anyone know if it's worth getting the vaccine you have it?
She did get the wuflu vaccine so really hoping to learn one day if that helps with breakouts or not.
I'd say get it as long as it's not the mRNA version, cause it really has been a biatch for her.

Shingles is f**king painful. Only a certified retard (FYI, most of the regular posters in threads about vaccine here are certified retards) would turn down something that reduces the chance of having to suffer through shingles pain.

I had shingles twice at 40 and 42. It hurts, but it is not some all encompassing, pass out from the pain and wish for death trauma. FFS just live your life people. Two brown recluse bites on my hand hurt worse and smelled way worse, by the way.

Bite the bullet and endure as best as you can using traditional meds, noninflammatories and salves. You'll never second guess yourself.
AVOID THIS VAXX LIKE THE PLAGUE (which is what it is -- and likely "fortified".)

Sorry boss, didn't know I was posting in a mud blood circle jerk thread. Continue with your "muh anti-vaxxers are retards" coping mechanism.

The absolute last place anyone should go for medical advice is the damn TD PB.

The shingles vaccine (Shingrix) is mRNA
ETA: Never mind, I thought I had read somewhere it was. Apparently it’s the one they are working on now

Had shingles- very painful! (Thank you morphine injection relief!) That being said, never received any vax & at this point, will avoid it, just take my chances on ever getting it again ...
Posted on 11/23/22 at 9:50 pm to Asusundevil23
Had the shingles in 1997 or so. Mostly around my waist so it wasn't too painful. Got a vaccine in 2005 and haven't experienced it again.

Says someone who has had vaccines
I haven’t had a vaccine in over 40+ years. Never got flu shot nor the covid social experiment injection.
The vast majority of people getting shingles got the jab so I’m not really worried about since I didn’t nuke my immune system.
