They tell me they've had worse colds.

Not understanding the panic.

The only crappy part for most people about COVID is the lost of taste and smell. The actual sickness part is no worse than a sinus infection.

That was my experience as well Smeg. At 55 and about 25 lbs heavy I was walking wounded for about 2 weeks. No smell, and just a little more tired than normal. “Weren’t” nothing to it TBH.

Today is my last day of quarantine. I tested positive last week. I’m fully “vaccinated.” Other than losing taste and smell for a few days this has been like any other sinus infection I’ve ever had. I know it’s different for everyone but I’ve been waaaaay worse with a simple case of the flu.

I'm quarantining with the coronavirus right now. It's day 3 and I feel great with essentially no symptoms except for mild congestion. However, 2 other guys that got it at the same time as me are having a rough time. They are young, in great shape and have no underlying conditions. It varies from person to person depending on a lot of factors.

My situation is almost exactly as yours, although my sinus congestion and loss of taste/smell has lasted over a week since my last day of quarantine.

I coughed a lot, for two weeks straight. Lost most of my sense of taste for a few days. Had a high fever and felt terrible the very last day of that two weeks (more from being sleep deprived than anything, I believe). Slept for almost 18 hours straight and woke up the next day at 100%.

Everyone else in the family had mostly similar experoences. The most unhealthy family member, by far, my fatass dad, was asymptomatic and never even knew he had it.

It affects people differently. I have a friend who is 32 y/o and was perfectly healthy. It went from normal covid shite and turned into full blown pneumonia. He’s been in icu and on a vent for 2 weeks now.

It was like a mild flu for two weeks for me. Never lost taste or smell. Tested positive for anti-bodies afterwards, so no vaccine for me.

How long after initial symptoms did you lose taste and smell? I’ve had a low grade fever since yesterday (got tested a little while ago), but taste and smell are fine.

I lost taste and smell maybe 36 hours from first symptoms and didn’t get them back for a couple of months. Not everyone loses them, though. I’ve had coworkers lose neither, or only lose one or the other.

For me it was like a switch was flipped. Everything was fine for lunch but gone by dinner.

That’s how it was for me. About 24 hours after the congestion started I lost taste and smell. I could taste my coffee that morning then it just disappeared by lunch. It’s back a little bit 10 days later but it’s far from normal.
