100 years ago it was commonly accepted that the Jews were a separate race. I'm talking about educated Americans and Europeans, not KKK rednecks.

It still is unless you just don't know any better. They certainly think so.
Any of these DNA kits will list out Jewish right there beside White, Black, Native American, Pacific Islander, East Asian, etc etc.
