They are. They are telling you they are.

quote:

Attorney General Jeff Session will meet with various state attorneys general this month to discuss growing concern that social networking giants are “intentionally stifling” freedom of expression, according to the Department of Justice.
“The Attorney General has convened a meeting with a number of state attorneys general this month to discuss a growing concern that these companies may be hurting competition and intentionally stifling the free exchange of ideas on their platforms,” said Justice Department spokesman Devin O’Malley.

I cannot wait to watch a bunch of lawyers try to argue which algorithms/code violate the 1st Amendment and which ones don’t. Good luck with a jurry of common Americans as well.

The last thing you want is for the government determining what private entities can publish. I don't trust Trump, the Democrats or the Republicans involved with that.

The issue here, for me, is that they are afforded protections by the US gov. Clearly they are not what they are saying they are. That needs to be removed.

Second, the CEO of Twitter today stated they work with Gov world wide to stifle speech. You can hear that exchange with Rubio.

He also pointed to the past election in Mexico where a socialist won the presidency.

Here is the concern with that. If you have a political leaning and you are working with governments, who and what are they promoting and where... along with WHY.

We are already on a slippery slope.

I would disagree still.

This is truly about the systemic shut down of opposing views by a massive world controlled media.

Break each monopoly up, then make 2 giant echo chambers that censor the other side.

No, it isn't good. But twitter and facebook were busted interfering and rigging a presidential election.

This is something that needs to be looked at and figure out what the best path forward is.

what gov't contracts are twitter / facebook up for?

I am sure google wants some gov't contracts but I doubt they will change algorithms to get them.

Not illegal. It sucks, but it's not illegal.

Big Tech companies represent a monopoly at this point. There are anti-trust considerations at play.

These platforms are pretty much a monopoly and should be determined as such.

We need to make them be fair and balanced in the content they allow or break up the monopoly using antitrust laws. The violating terms of service is BS when they allow terrorist groups to maintain twitter accounts.
