You mean Kosovar Albanians or Kosovar Serbs?

Can we do the right thing and back the Serbs this time? NATO and the USA chose the side of Islamic narco-terrorists.

March 24, 1999 was an embarrassing day in US history.

Why do you consider it the “right thing” to keep a region which is 97% Kosovar under the thumb of a distant Serbian overlord?

There it is again. Do you mean Kosovar-Albanian or Kosovar Serb?

Why exactly (I'll go ahead and assume that 97 is correct, I'm too lazy to go look it up) is Kosovo currently 97% Kosovar-Albanian?

How about we just let people decide for themselves.

Because it has been inhabited by ethnic Albanians (then called Illyrians) since the period of the Western Roman Empire..

They ruled themselves until about the 13th century, when the ethnically-Albanian population was conquered (and later ruled) by Slavs/Serbs for about 150-200 years. The ethnic Albanians were then conquered (and later ruled) by Ottomans for almost 500 years.

After WW1, the Great Powers awarded the area to Serbia, but the population was STILL ethnically Albanian, as it remains today.

So I ask AGAIN, why do you consider it to be the “Right Thing” to have a population which is 97% ethnically Albanian ruled (against their will) by Serbs in Belgrade?

GOOD NEWS for the area: Europe is importing Muslims at such an alarming rate that what Serbians want and what Kosovakians want will be drowned out by what the Muslims want.

Rwanda ain't America. If a law that prevents official designation of people as Hutu or Tutsi is what is needed there so as to stop machete wielding mobs from hacking thousands to death. It would probably be worth it.

Oh, well if he says so, that must be the case. I'm guessing that being an Albanian Catholic he has no axe to grind with Orthodox Serbs. I suppose all the videos that I've seen of Albanian Moslems destroying churches have been a hoax as have the Murders of Serb civilians.

I suppose this info is also manufactured.

Tell us also how Hashim Thaci, the war criminal is being unfairly singled out.

There is plenty of blame to go around in this conflict, the Islamic narco-terrorists really don't need someone white knighting for them.

The Orthodox church in Gnjilane/Gjilan is stunning. For that matter, the main Mosque there is likewise stunning, with twin minarets and does not look like the cookie cutter, grain silo/livestock dome style that are affronts to the eyes in much of the rest of the area.

The current aggravation of the situation in Kosovo has been provoked from outside with NATO’s tacit support, a senior Russian lawmaker said on Monday.

"The current aggravation of the situation around Kosovo has been induced from outside. The Kosovars have dared deliberate escalation with the tacit support of NATO countries. Those NATO countries, which bombed Belgrade back in 1999, dismembered former Yugoslavia and opened a Pandora box having recognized Pristina’s self-declared independence," Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) and chair of the international committee of the Russian State Duma (lower parliament house), wrote on his Telegram channel.

"The Kosovo authorities’ decision to postpone the enforcement of the ban on Serbian documents is not a solution to thee problem," he noted. "It is still a burning fuse in a powder keg. And the responsibility rests on those who continue to pull the strings, fanning the smoldering embers of the Balkan fire. Their goal is quite clear - to shift the focus of attention from their own global mistakes. And it is doubly immoral."

He lauded Serbia for taking a "wise and peaceful position." "We support Belgrade, we support our Serb brothers," he stressed.

The situation in Kosovo and Metohija deteriorated dramatically on Sunday evening after Kosovo’s police closed the checkpoint on the administrative line with Serbia, intending to impose a ban on Serbian documents as of Monday. In response, Serbs in the north of Kosovo took to the streets and blocked key highways. Sirens were heard in several cities in the north of the region. Police and the Kosovo Force (KFOR), a NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, were pulled to the bridge across the Ibar River, which links Kosovska Mitrovica’s northern and southern parts.

My research says that the government of Kosovo is actively prosecuting criminal cases against those KLA members who are accused of violating the laws of war.

Formerly a leader of KLA and later president of Kosovo, who resigned to face war crime allegations. What is your point?

I cannot address each of the little symbols on your map, but I can observe that it uses a solid red line to delineate national borders AND excludes that solid red line for the border between Kosovo and Serbia. I think that one fact shines some light on the motivations of the cartographer.

Of course, NONE of this has much bearing upon the larger question of why Serbs in Belgrade should rule over ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, who desire independence from Belgrade.

If 97% of the residents of El Paso wanted to secede from Texas, I would shake their hands and wish them luck.
