I use ethanol free in my boat. It sure would be convenient if I could find more stations.

The Ag lobby will take care of this with the swiftness. Farmers love them some welfare checks.

I doubt many politicians fear individual farmers... only the multi-million dollar lobbying budgets of agribusinesses like ADM.

I was under the impression people only used Ethanol Free Gas in lawn equipment, generators, and other small engines because it just sits there in the winter time and other times of the year for extended periods. Ethanol free isn't nearly as bad for cars since most people run them daily.

I go out of my way to only put ethanol free in my small engines but before I could find ethanol free, I used Star*Tron. It's better than Sta-Bil.

Except when it's used to get me drunk.

On a serious note... Methanol is where it is at if the U.S wants to move to a cleaner, much more cost effective way to supplement gasoline.

Right.

Ethanol is very hydrophilic. As an example mix vodka and water or any spirit and water. They mix really well.

Whereas pure gasoline and water don't mix well. Hydrophobic. You can clearly see a separation when gasoline and water are combined.

When vehicles with ethanol gasoline sit up for a long time they tend to attract water from the air (though condensation). The longer they sit up the more water the ethanol fuel attracts and the shitter the fuel becomes.

It occurs to me that this could be a GOPe gambit to peel off some electoral votes.

True. However I don't believe they have genetically engineered a microorganism to produce methanol with the same efficiency and volume as Saccharomyces yeast does with ethanol.

Hell, you could expose grape juice to the atmosphere for a day, close the top with a small vent and have wine in two weeks. Really shitty wine but wine nonetheless. You could actually distill the ethanol off the shitty wine and put it in your gas tank for fuel. That's how omnipresent ethanol producing yeast are.

This is going to be a hard sell. Senator Grassley from Iowa is a big Trump and ethanol supporter and Grassley is a big Trump advocate in this entire MUH Russians investigation.

That's easy. The US gov agrees to buy X amount of corn to distribute, in the form of cornmeal and canned corn and other consumable products, to welfare recipients. In turn, the government reduces the amount of payments to said welfare recipients to offset the cost of the corn purchase. Maybe they can throw in some Obama style nutrition courses for good measure. It's a win-win-win.

No need. Methanol is made from natural gas. Thanks to fracking, natural gas is dirt cheap.

Methanol costs $1.14/gal. (Q2 spot pricing)

Highly profitable industry and a clean energy source. No govt subsidies either. AND popcorn prices go down at the movies.

I wouldn't doubt that methanol is already blended into gasoline at those prices.

For example during the winter months butane is blended into gasoline because it's pretty cheap at $1/gallon. Butane is blended during the winter months due to the low vapor pressure.
