Of course, but not everyone is actually upset about the government spending money. Despite the theatrics, Democrats are happy to continue spending.

I'm in the minority on this, but I think passing the CR is the right thing to do.
Trump hasn't even been in office 2 months yet; as he has said, pass this and give them 6 months to work on passing a much better bill. (Hell, Chuck the Schmuck doesn't like this bill so it must be fairly decent).

I mean, does anybody really believe that Trump doesn't want to pass a top-notch spending bill? Look at how he's going after illegals. Look at how he's pursuing waste and fraud in government. Look at what he's doing to the Department of Education.

You really aren't okay with giving him 6 months to get THIS done? You've seen the other efforts, but you think he's lying about this?

Hell, if you think the Swamp and the Globalists are happy with Trump and his people, just look at what they're doing to Trump Tower right now. Look at the attacks on Tesla dealerships. If those bastards are this desperate, you need to figure out why.

I eagerly awaiting the "big, beautiful" reconciliation.

I hope the GOP utilizes the same expansive definition of "reconciliation" the Dems did for Biden's first 2 years.

Just more Kabuki theater, folks.

Of course, and as expected. It's still a wasteful bill that will fund garbage that DOGE is trying to cut, so the Dems were always going to go along with it after making a scene for the cameras.

However, Trump has already shaken up DC in the first couple of months. This CR now allows the dust to settle somewhat, and buys time to come up with something better over the next 6 months.

We'll see how it works out, but hopefully Trump views this as a just a step back to take two steps forward.

Trump admin requested this.

But I take this as money being shifted around.

quote:

The legislation would also fully fund veterans’ health care services and benefits, while enhancing investments in defense, the committee touted in a press release. It noted that the bill includes the largest pay raise for junior enlisted troops in more than 40 years – the National Defense Authorization Act, which former President Joe Biden signed in December, authorized a 14.5% increase in pay in 2025.

The stopgap measure would also support federal wildland firefighters, including raising their pay and providing premium pay for those responding to fires, according to a GOP summary of the bill. And it would increase funding for air traffic control systems by $753 million above the prior year’s level.

Funding for nutrition assistance to mothers, infants and children in the WIC program would jump by more than $500 million to a total of $7.6 billion, a request made by the Trump administration, the committee highlighted. The bill would also increase funding for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, which supports low-income senior citizens, and for the Food Safety and Inspection Service to review meat and poultry processing plants.

Probably nothing. They were backed in a corner. They had nothing. That CR still has money for their slush funds. If it doesn't get signed, when it comes time to pass something, that money would be gone.

They wanted an omnibus to line their pockets but aren't stupid enough to not realize that wasn't happening. They're scraping pennies, but at least they're getting their pennies still.

Trump played these idiots perfectly, but tbh it didn’t take much from him.

He is basically on the 80 side of every 80/20 issue, the CR that passed is the EXACT same one that Shumar was giddy about giving to Biden a year ago, and there are a billion clips of dems for a decade talking about how “muh shutdown will destroy us all,” and it totally undercuts their credibility in their “fight” for federal workers.

Either they cave and trumps gets to proceed as planned or they don’t and the ENTIRE country would blame them

Or he realized the democrats couldn't win this one in the eye of the public. Their tantrums and media sob stories lately haven't generated the support they had hoped.

Thanks for some sense of reasoning.

I guess we should have shut the country down completely, stopped all payments, for six months while DOGE sorts things out.

Or pass the CR and give us enough time to prepare for a true budget for the first time in 20 years this fall.

You might want to read “Relentless Pursuit” by the attorney that made it his mission to prosecute Epstein. Trump was one of the very few people willing to come forward and speak against Epstein.
