The Senate changes its rules constantly. “Cuz Senate Rules” is a nonsensical argument.

No. Because if it's recorded and can be made public, it's not a secret ballot

But what if it’s NOT recorded. It clearly states that 1/5 vote is required to document the up and down votes associated with members.

The final documentation can be “The Senate voted to acquit.” They don’t even have to put the margin of acquittal.

Not that I think any of this is going to happen, but it would seem inadvisable to catch the double whammy of (1) not achieving the secrecy they'd hope for and then (2) the stigma of having concealed one's vote from his or her constituents who I would guess expect accountability from their elected representatives.

Would be a pretty damaging choice IMO.

You asked if the Senate already had rules on a Impeachment Trial. The answer is yes. Of course they can change them. But that's not what you asked.

No, I did not. Your reading skills are poor.

Yes. That's kind of what Standing Rules mean. They can of course change them, but that's simply modifications to the Standing Rules.

Speaking of poor reading skills...

Ok, you got me there. I was ignorant of standing rules for impeachment (which can be changed).

However, this argument is obfuscating the question about whether the trial vote associated with each member can be secret. Which, using Centinel’s constitutional “boom,” it can be.

TRUMP all the way.

Why do you keep accusing me of being a liberal?

It'd be tough for a Republican in the Senate to vote for impeachment.

Look at how the votes shook out for the Kavanaugh confirmation and how much pressure there was on the GOP to confirm him. Multiple that times one hundred and that's what they would face during an impeachment vote.

[quote]Romney owns Utah politics he isn't worried but you can bet he and Turtle have a deal readied.

CA, around a month ago, I was linked to a Utah based message board that posted the results of a poll taken on Romney's popularity. He was at 34% approval. If that is valid, there is hope for the good people of Utah.

I didn’t accuse you. I thought you were a Bernie bro. No big deal.

That's not what he was getting at. The Senate doesn't vote for Impeachment. The House does.

I know that, but took "impeachment" in this case to mean "conviction and removal."

They're trying to entice the Democrats into giving it a go. It's a trap.

You're talking to someone that thinks that military service is neither honorable nor heroic if you take a commission through ROTC.

Can you explain to me how this REQUIRES that ALL votes of each member be documented, and that there is no room for secrecy?

I’m waiting...

You’re being dishonest (big surprise).

I said that taking the ROTC route to forestall being drafted or avoiding immediate service while going to college at the height of the Vietnam War was tantamount to being a draft dodger.

This is bullshite spin. If there isn’t 1 House Republican willing to vote for impeachment, there won’t be 1 Senate Republican who votes for impeachment.
