I guess this is an interesting idea but my preference is to eliminate income taxes all together. It has never made any sense to me why we tax income rather than consumption. Although I guess nowadays we do both but taxing income is and always has been stupid

We need to make and sell more than we buy from others. Simple math, helluva tough problem. If anyone can do it, Trump can. Tall order. Here's hoping.
At a certain point in time it will be on Americans.
Americans have to be willing to work.
Lumber can have a huge resurgence. Steel can. Automotive. Automotive maintenance. Oil and gas. Hvac. Construction. Electrical. Machining. Service industry. Nuclear energy. Shipbuilding.
Trump is clearly betting on the American working man strapping on their boots and getting to work.
If we embrace it, we can offset the tax cuts easily if we turn our 1.7T worldwide trade deficit more into our favor and that is being done with tariffs.

Because it's a revenue killer. All income above 150 would have to be taxed at an absurd clip to balance the revenue losses. I don't even know if it could work at 90 percent tax rate above 150K

I'm not supporting zero taxes but I do think we need to move away from income taxes. It's never made any sense that we use income tax as a primary source. Heck if for no other reason because we have a bunch of politicians who always scream about raising income taxes to go after the rich. The rich don't fricking have a bunch of income! Every time our government decides to attack the rich using income taxes all they're really doing is attacking doctors lawyers and highly paid engineers while your average CEO laughs his arse off

Can you point to one country that does it this way?

Why does that matter?

No because politicians long ago figured out that the income tax makes for excellent demagoguery and social control. It's much harder to control people's behavior for example with a broad sales tax. But once I create an income tax and the concepts of deductions the race is on!

At the end of the day any tax amounts to extracting productive capacity out of the economy and handing it to the government. So there really should only be one goal when deciding how to tax and that goal should be the one least impactful on productive capacity and one that requires very little if any manipulation. Let the progressivity of your taxes come from the fact that rich people spend more. For those people that talk about how poor people spend more of their money on necessities. That's true. So you probably want a broad-based tax that doesn't hit the Staples hard or at all.

external revenues from Tariffs
Reducing the size of federal government while returning some duties to the States
Reduce expense by significantly reducing waste, fraud, abuse
Probably going to need some sort of federal sales tax / consumption tax. Which I’d greatly prefer over income taxes

90% of all tax revenue comes from people making 150,000 or more right now anyway.

And a good portion of that revenue starts well below the 150K threshold...
