I do feel for the rational hog posters. There seems to be an over representation of vagina hat wearers with a razor back next to their name. Plus you have the batshit crazy ones like pb and cruise.

Smart Post, I know you aren’t going to leave. But please refrain from hijacking this thread and turning it into an A&M-UTex battle. No one here wants to see that. Thanks.

He can’t help it. Charles’ entire pathetic existence in life is to bash any and all things TAMU. He fricking HATES A&M, and thinks he can get the school shut down. It’s a sad, lonely existence in his efficiency apartment off of Beltway 8 in the Asian part of Houston since Stanford Financial went down and his wife left him.

But never mind that. It is what it is.

I can’t believe Missouri is that low. That’s scary that there are that many more liberal schools than that dumpster fire. Just shows you a very dim future. No pun intended.

UW Madison comes in at #4 among power conferences behind only Oregon, Cal berkely, and Iowa.

I love the Badgers but I know it will take a great effort to raise right leaning kids in this town if they go to public schools and the UW.

I knew without even looking at the rankings that Missouri was going to be the most liberal. I'm surprised Georgia isn't higher up the chart. You would think a university located in the hometown of R.E.M. would be more liberal than a university located in the hometown of Tom Petty.

And I would’ve expected Georgia to have scored more liberal.

I think it might have something to do with the methodology. Instead of asking students how liberal they are, they ask how liberal their classmates are. This is skewed based on perspective. I imagine that UGA students are as a whole in the top 3 or 4 in the SEC (I read their essays), but a lot of kids at UGA come from very liberal Atlanta and are probably very surprised at how conservative UGA is compared to their expectations. Coming from Ole Miss, I know I was.

I think the reverse might be the case elsewhere. Kids from Texas and Arkansas are probably shocked by how liberal U of A is compared to their expectations but are probably about where UGA is politically if you measure the actual beliefs of the students.

I do think the four most conservative are probably correct and in order.

I can’t believe everyone is taking a Facebook survey as truth.

I am a bit amazed by the effectiveness of right wing clickbait sights in their demonization of the University of Missouri.

Idk, bro. Fayetteville and UA are pretty damned liberal.

If anyone harbors any illusions that Fayetteville is not, Pride Festival and parade this year drew 20,000 attendees.

It's like gay pride in a large city, in a relatively small city. The only city more liberal per capita in the state is Eureka Springs, but Eureka is like 25% gay.

I mean relative to Arkansas, as a whole, sure and compared to other SEC towns too.

But election results tell a story too.

Trump won 53% of the vote in Washington County.

He won 29% in Athens-Clarke

Well, here's some circumstantial evidence that majors and field of study mean more than geography...

I found my dad's alma mater on the list. Clarkson University, a little (approx 4k enrolled) school, located in Potsdam, N.Y. It's got a pretty heavy focus on Engineering, has 10 Masters and 6 Doctorate programs in that.

Rank- 469.

Right.

But Washington County, Arkansas has 240,000 people in it. Fayetteville city only represents 85,000 of that population.

The town next door, Springdale, which is about the same size as Fayetteville, is conservative. So are all of the smaller outlying areas.

Clarke County, Georgia is half that size, and most of the population IS the college town of Athens. Clarke County is 25% African American. You can find majority African American counties and cities which vote heavily Democrat, but they aren't necessarily "liberal" places.

They're just "Democrat".

Mizzou is full of Chicagoland kids who are easily influenced by the media coming from their insulated suburbs.

The State of Missouri is not left leaning. Bout as "Merica" as it gets.

That’s a good point.
And it makes sense.
