Excellent post. BTW, the 2/3 senate cloture rule was introduced into the senate during Woodrow Wilson presidential term. IIRC.

Yes, 1917, but in the early 1800s the vestiges of this rule was born, I do not know where I read about this years ago, but it had its formation pretty early on, maybe it was just a wink, wink, agreement or something.

(forget that a lot of Dems wanted to do the same thing 6 months ago)

Schumer said that if Kamala won the Presidency and they won the Senate, then they would kill the filibuster in order to pass nation wide abortion laws, and more importantly, national voting laws that probably would've basically let every illegal in the country vote and would make it darn near impossible to ever have fair elections again.

I get that killing the filibuster is a bad idea, but make no mistake, the dems will do it the first chance they get and they will remake the voting laws in this country.

That would be monumentally stupid.
Call it, preemptive stupidity. Dems already stated they would do it. Thank Schumer for that threat, then get rid of it and then ride that bitch to undo every Dem program and regulation holding back the economy, fix immigration and the border, get DEI out of everything, require transgenderism be treated as a mental disease and treat it as dysphoria. Lock up the fentanyl dealers. Hell, charge them with murder. Arrest the traitors that cheated in 2020. Eliminate the Dept of Education.

Even if he does, and I don't think he does, there are too many wishy washy Republicans to do it.

Manchin and Sinema were the only two people that stood in their way the last time, and they caught so much hell behind the scenes about it that neither ran for reelection this cycle.

That is definitely true. Turtle has already said that the filibuster isn't going anywhere with the new Senate majority.

I think it’s in place for a reason.

Its the perfect way to never get anything done and blame it on everyone else.

It needs to go if the govt is going to be fixed once and for all.
