My 8th grader is 13, and she's youngest person in her class. At this point in the school year, I believe there are probably a lot of 15-year olds in junior high. If a person was held back a year, they would absolutely be 15 in junior high.

Didn't junior highs traditionally run from 7-9th grade?
I turned 15 at end of my 9th grade year. Some friends at the beginning.
"Middle School" replaced junior highs and ran 6-8th in my school district growing up.

A lot of High Schools in Arkansas are 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Jr High is 8th and 9th grade. 15 years old would be 9th grade.
Obligatory Pine Bluff is a real shitehole post.
Also, some of these schools have to split like this to accommodate the number of students vs the actual size of the school. There is no money in Pine Bluff to build a larger school.

I knew of ISDs that had JrHS - 7-9, and HS was 10-12. Another ISD had HS - 11-12, and irrc 10th may have been stand alone. But not sure.

Not sure, but Jr. High School in some places may still be 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. Middle School is 6-8, so maybe that County or Arkansas overall uses the older classifications? Conceivably a 9th grader could be 15 depending on their birth date.
