It's not what they normalized, it's how. When you swear fealty to moral relevance, people aren't going to magically stop "evolving" right where you believe they should. When it comes to sex they used to have a decent firewall with the legal definition of an adult, but they've taken a bulldozer to that concept over the last 10-20 years.

Not always learned (in the behaviorism sense).
Certain stimuli creates psychological pathology. This is a much bigger statement than just fetishes/sexual preferences. You have to really expand the concept of "learn" to fit here, especially since most of this is beyond the conscious level of processing.

So a person who was a child victim of sexual abuse who develops the psychological pathology of being attracted to children due to this sexual abuse, who doesn't act on it, should be killed?
Or should we try to develop treatments to alleviate this terrible pathology they had no role in creating within their mind?

I imagine our concept of appropriate age of consent for sexual activity is well higher than at any point in humanity, historically.
