And that includes Reagan, folks

His administration was directly responsible for the 80s Crack era. Almost every major drug figure of lore from Escobar down to the "hood legends" were in his reign. Facilitated by his CIA. Drugs were his business and business was good. He had no war so he made up his own.

Seems the 80's gave Miami, Fl a big boost. Banks popping up everywhere laundering money. What killed it was the violence of the South American folks like Griselda Blanco with all the shooting. Cocaine Cowboys film 2006 is a great documentary. The feds had no choice in coming in to stop it.

Keeping a low profile and protecting the peace was the genius of the US mafia when the started Vegas. Kept the feds off them.

Not really. 9/11 was a real butt fricker for the industry, for a while.

You must be really old. At 70 mine gets up on command. If just doesn't get up unless it's going to penetrate

You don’t think Hernandez gave up info in return?

I don’t know if that’s the case, I’ve seen nothing to indicate that. There’s an article from ProPublica from February 18, 2026 that goes into it a bit. I googled them and they aren’t known as being partisan to any party. I can’t link the article but it should be easy to find.

It gets interesting towards the end about how they dealt with his release as opposed to other prisoners releases.

quote:

Before he left, Hernández was allowed to use the captain’s government phone to talk to the federal prison system’s deputy director, Joshua Smith, who was convicted in a drug trafficking conspiracy before Trump pardoned him in 2021.

It’s odd the the federal prison system’s deputy director is a trump paroled drug trafficker, small world I guess.

you don't know much about the drug trade and it shows. Trump has had border patrol agents running around American cities for a year. Yeah the border may not be seeing migrant trains but the drugs are flowing. blowing up some boats didn't put a dent in what comes thru the southern boarder.

That wasn't the real goal.

The CIA program running it had their former head as Reagan's VP. People forget how quickly Reagan, after being elected, was shot and how very close he came to dying.

Ahhh, the CIA is more clever than folks realize. They first convinced John Hinckley to become infatuated with Jodi Foster. Then they convinced him that the way to get in her pants was to shoot Reagan. How did they do it? I’d tell ya, but I’d have to kill ya.

Weirdos have been around forever:

Charles Manson was profoundly influenced by The Beatles' 1968 White Album, which he interpreted as containing coded messages confirming his own apocalyptic philosophy. Manson believed the band was singing directly to him and his followers, validating his prediction of an impending race war he termed "Helter Skelter". Specifically, he used tracks like "Helter Skelter" to justify his violent worldview and even to plot escape routes to the desert for his followers.

Manson's interpretation was not that he was following the band, but rather that the band had "tapped into" the truth he had been preaching for years. He integrated his twisted reading of their music into a broader belief system that also drew from the Bible, Scientology, and other literature.

By 1969, he and his followers were actively preparing for this anticipated societal collapse, which he believed would result in the rise of Black people and the destruction of the white establishment.

And then there are those who would say that the CIA put Charles Manson up to it. There are those who will find whatever current events that they can apply it to, and they will claim the CIA is behind it.
