This is from the liberal "The Atlantic" magazine: LINK quote: This morning, the Labor Department announced that the national unemployment rate ticked up to 4 percent in June for good reasons, as hundreds of thousands more Americans sought work. For the first time in recorded history, the number of job openings is higher than the number of people looking for a job. That has raised hopes that wage growth might finally begin to pick up, with employers bidding more to attract new workers and offering raises to retain their existing staff. Full employment — that magical economic state, in which everyone who wants work has it, and at a good wage too — finally seems to be near. In much of Iowa, it already is. Out of every 100 people who want a job, 98 or 99 have one. The rate of wage growth has doubled of late, and businesses are scrambling to find workers. “It does feel like things are a little different in the last year,” Elisabeth Buck, the president of the United Way of Central Iowa, told me. “Businesses are getting a little desperate.”

Interesting news nugget that I heard on Fox News this morning, some lady on the 6AM hour was talking about the economy/labor markets, she said 38% of all working Americans are working at least 2 jobs....., not sure what to think of that stat but I’m sure glad I’m not one of those folks.

Sounds like a segue for an amnesty/open borders campaign

Sounds like it’s time to make people who are basically living off government entitlements to get out of the house and go to work.

Have you looked a line graph of the stock market from 2016-2018? If you have an iPhone, go ahead and check that out on your stocks app.

Because the economic growth doesn't necessarily equal out to how media portrays it.

A better assessment would include how many jobs are being filled in different work groups. Many people work 2 jobs to make ends meet. So that means less jobs overall and that certain jobs pay relatively little (assuming the individual does not have outstanding debts).

many pundits and analysts have been saying we're at or near full employment since 2015, but whatever

What is the relevance of this statement? More people are participating and more people are employed now when compared to 2015. Are you saying they are jumping the gun now like they did in 2015? Or are you saying you agree with the pundits who said it back then?

the relevance of that point, to any suggestion that the media is/has been suppressing this "news", really couldn't be clearer, man

Oh, I see. You're saying that since the media reported on "full employment" in 2015, the idea that the mainstream media won't give it the same attention in 2018 is ridiculous. There seems to be a thoroughly clear distinction between 2015 and 2018 that the media might consider before reporting on good news with the same ferocity now as back then.

Would you say we should expect even more media attention now than in 2015, since the indicators make a much stronger case today than on this day 3 years ago? I'll watch the usual suspects over the next week and see what they say about the economy, assuming they mention it at all (but why wouldn't they? They reported on the economy a lot in 2015).

Fantastic news.

Major news outlets are reporting the jobs report because they are forced to but you’re not hearing much on the millions of fewer Americans on Food stamps and SNAP benefits since Trump took office.

We were told millions would die in the streets. Instead millions got up off the couch and went back to work. A sizable % that were already working have taken out a second job.

There's been valid debate about whether we were there or not since then, and there still is. And a lot of this debate is at the econ pundit/econ analyst level.

It's no secret we're at or near it (and we're near it IMO, but as you can see Jyrdis disagrees probably for reasons worth considering) and it hasn't been for years.

And yes, this fact on its own absolutely destroys any narrative of the media burying the fact that we're on the upside of the business cycle. But on top of that, you even have some outspoken libs like Noah Smith calling this a 'boom'.

I was gonna read the rest of your post and probably reply, but the quoted part above, and your previous post were so inane that I'm just gonna move on
