You need a pistol. No offense, but you sound like someone who would be rather easy to disarm from a shotgun (more to grab).

Get a .357 Magnum. No frills, no jamming and the best stopping power of any round.

You're telling a new gun owner to buy a .357? That's terrible advice.

OP, Savage makes a great shotgun for under $200. I have one beside my bed. I've put a lot of shells through it without any issues. Check Academy. If you find it cheaper they will price match it and take off an additional 5%. Good luck.

Your old Daddy was not talking about a shotgun made in China. Screw Savage.
Remington 870 made in Bama or a Mossberg made in Texas for the Win.

Anyone know how to take the plug out of a shotgun so I can load more ammo?

Yes, it's a simple plastic piece that fits inside the magazine under the barrel. YouTube

This is horseshite. The plug only applies to Hunting.

KelTec KSG.

Good luck finding one right now.

Gun Broker might have some for $300 more than they should be.

Never occurred to me that these would be made in China. Kind of a game-changer for me.

Been to China many, many times. Ran a company there. Built machines there.

I'm avoiding their stuff when I can these days.

Haven’t read through the thread but Rem & Mossberg make the better tactical shotguns, although I’m sure there are other good ones. Also, there are some extremely knowledgeable gun people on here but if I had a gun question, I’d go to the Outdoor Board with it.

Savage makes shotguns in China? They make their rifles in Canada.

Racking a pump shot gun is one hell of a deterrent. That sound alone makes a thug rethink their intentions

Not nearly as effective as watching your fellow uninvited house person get hit with 9 32 caliber pellets from that 00 buck.

Fair point, but I have found that the replies on other boards are a lot slower than here.

Hung out on the Money board for a couple of weeks while I was lining up my SBA-CARES stuff. Came to the realization these boards all have their own personalities. They didn't have quite the same "sense of humor" as this board, shall we say.

Besides, my reason for considering this is more INDOOR than OUTDOOR.

(That little punch line right there will get you a little lecture on some of the other boards, in my experience.)

If you're not concerned with hunting, The Mossberg Shockwave 590 is what you need for home defense.

Before all this shite started, you could find one for under $400. Now, you're looking a $550 +

KSG Review

I have been looking at this one, but traumatizing the wrist would eliminate it for me.

It's not hard on the wrist as long as you have it butted against your shoulder.

I don’t think a shockwave is a good choice for an inexperienced gun owner. Sure they’re small and compact, but are difficult to control and use without smacking yourself in the face from the immense recoil and not having a stock.

Good point. When it comes to firearms, I always recommend you try it before you buy it. It doesn't do you any good to own a firearm if you're not comfortable with it.
