So I know the EU has tanked but could an EU style cooperative work between the two American nations? Draw lines around our collective interests. Currency, travel, commerce between the two. But leave ultimate policy governance to each other.

The entire world economy would reject the sales of any goods that would come out of red state and thus turn the red states into poverty 3rd world country.
If violent. The EU and RUssia and CCP will jump onto the side of the Blue states and overwhelm the red state with over whelming troops numbers. There will probably be a gentlemen agreement to not use nukes after that, the new Blue United States will rule after all the red ones been killed. Also the people killed won't be a problem since they the Blue United States will just replenish their population with their ideal countrymen. Immigrants.
Either way, a split is bad for the red states, red state only hope to do what the Blue states did to America. Lay low, bide your time and start changing things from within and be subversive.

Nah, if not amicable they’ll leave us alone to kill each other. China’s gaze is not on us. They just see us (rightly) as their biggest threat. They’ll just then solely focus on Asia, Africa, and Europe as we kill each other in the streets. All they’d do is provide misinformation to our people.
