I don't think those tariffs are being imposed. I could be wrong. Does anyone here know enough about tariffs to pick one of the countries on the board, and find a government document / website, from that country, indicating that they imposed a blanket tariff on U.S. goods around double what Trump is imposing? As of yesterday, of course (they probably will impose tariffs soon if they haven't already).

I found sites from different governments where you can look up tariffs. But there is also a U.S. site (trade.gov) that sometimes provides useful summaries.

So, for example, we're putting a 24% across-the-board tariff on Japanese goods when they enter the U.S. That would imply that Japan has a 48% tariff on U.S. goods when they enter Japan, because Trump says he's only doing half. According to trade.gov https://www.trade.gov/country-commercial-guides/japan-import-tariffs, Japan does have some tariffs that are in the single-digit percentages for certain goods, with 15% for Ag being the exception.

Trade.gov also has a link to the Japanese government site where you can look up tariffs on individual products ( https://www.customs.go.jp/english/tariff/index.htm). I looked for automotive tariffs (because the Administration seems focused on those), and there appear to be none on U.S. goods. Note that we get the WTO rate. https://www.customs.go.jp/english/tariff/2025_04_01/data/e_87.htm

Patting myself on the back for going cash heavy in early February

Unfortunately if Trump tried to do this the right way with phased in timelines and congressional bills the lobbyist and special interests would have it fully neutered before foreign countries had to make any real changes. Breaking some eggs to make an omelette.

Hopefully. That’s what has to happen to get inflation under control. After that we surge forward, but we will take the hit in the midterms as you wrote.

I love puts.

I wanted to buy SPY puts and calls today, but the options market looked absolutely crazy. The prices for even deep out-of-the-money options were changing so fast I just backed away slowly.

China has been moving their supply chain to Vietnam since Trump's first term. As they own the vast majority of businesses operating in Vietnam and Cambodia right now.

Finally, he should have gone lighter on the tariffs on Taiwan/Malaysia/Vietnam as those are key countries to diversify away from China for our supply chain.

My god, I'm not kidding, I am concerned about Roger. Trump has absolutely broken him. He has TDS on steroids. I am 100% that Roger has fallen off the wagon, and I hate that for him, because as a recovering addict, he had done so well. It is very obvious by the way he is posting that something is terribly wrong. He is completely broken. Man, you probably need to take a step back from politics for a few days....

Also, you are absolutely a liar about retiring and losing your retirement fund. You cannot be that seriously stupid to retire and to keep your money in highly risky stocks...if you did, you are either dumber than I thought...like insane stupid. Get help man, you are 100% broken, and also, a pathetic liberal.

The formula is the foreign nation’s trade deficit with the United States divided by the foreign nation’s exports to the USA.

Vietnam: Exports 136.6, Imports 13.1
Deficit = 123.5

123.5/136.6 = 90%

Holy frick. Maybe not tomorrow or next month, but I can guarantee you that if peoples 401k is down 10-15% in a year, politicians, regardless of party will be summarily thrown out on their asses.

If you don’t think a growing stock market contributes to this, you just a fricking idiot.

I honestly believe he thinks he is coming across well on here, when he, in fact, sounds more and more unhinged each day. I'm being honest, I really think he could be in some trouble here. It is VERY CLEAR he is off the wagon.

The message if you are reading those charts above is Trump is reinstituting the Monroe Doctrine for the global supply chain. Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Trinidad & Tobago, and Honduras are all at 10%. This is going to force the global supply chain to relocate to the Western Hemisphere. Only ones in the Western Hemisphere who really fricking this up right now are Mexico & Canada.

What a ****show. I voted for Trump 3 times and this is still better than Harris would have been, but he is going to force America into a recession in Q2/Q3 of this year.

In case you missed it, by definition, we have been in a recession for a couple years now.

Pull yourself together man.
