A registry doesn't go far enough. The wealthy should have to wear something in public that identifies them to others. I don't know, maybe a yellow star or something.

The tax rate would start at 1 percent on net worth of more than $32 million

1% tax is peanuts and probably not a bad idea if it gets spent in a reasonable and rational way.

Problem is the Republicans spent just as much on crap as the Democrats do.
That is a problem...not THE problem with a wealth tax. So, go frick yourself.

Hahaha....you think that the 1.8 billion in US backed IMF "loans" to the Ukraine "disappeared" quickly. Just wait. There will be a lot of wealthy lose trillions of dollars very quickly. So...flip side. If you have children that are clever and good with numbers and unsure about what major to persue. Accounting

So a 1% tax that funds research, infrastructure, and job creation is bad?
The problem with any tax (sales, income, sin, wealth, etc) is that both sides blame each other so they can both keep robbing the citizens.
If you do not see this and see how it is all the same old song and dance means at least 1 party has fueled you with the fear to fight the other instead of fighting both.
You like masturbation and am OK if I spank the monkey? Thoughtful of you.
I know you can go blind and all but I am stopping when I need glasses.

It will just bloat the bureaucracy. The beltway will grow, DC will be partying.

Confiscation of property.
It's what collectivists do.

Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday proposed an “extreme wealth tax” on the highest-income Americans, along with a “national wealth registry” that he said would help prevent them from avoiding the tax.
So, basically, avoid being wealthy or you will pay a large chunk of it to the government and everyone will know of your wealth.
I wonder what a socialist-led government will do with all of their plans that depend on taxing the rich, when there are no rich people left to tax.
