Agreed. It is certainly drinkable.
Double IPAs are a weird style. They actually seem less hoppy than regular IPAs, probably because they add so much more malt to up the ABV.
Real Ale makes a nice Double IPA (though they call it an Imperial), too. It is called Three Lions.

I generally don't go for the crazy hop bombs either, but I like the more "normal" expressions of the style. Fortunately, several Louisiana breweries are doing serious work with their IPA offerings, so that might be skewing my perspective a bit. I'll admit that, in the early days of the craft brewing surge, I wasn't going out of my way looking for Stone.
