I would recommend anyone who wants to donate to a charity do so to their local soup bowls or food banks. Your money will go much further that way.

Some charities are volunteer only and take no donated money for salaries. I am involved in one like that and it makes a huge difference. Other than what we spend on food (which is the majority of the money) the only other expenses are fuel for us to travel to the needed location. We have been to St Charles and Prairieville in the last couple of years after hurricanes.
