I don't agree with everything he said but he did make some valid points. The problem with China is we created this monster and it is going to be hard to control it without significant damage being done to everyone else. I do agree with him that alot of people are jealous of their success. So many people want to stick their head in the sand and deny reality on what China has accomplished in the last 10 years.
How much are the financial guys paying you to post here? Or maybe you’re of the cloth.
Either way, China is asshoe.

Let me guess, you don't agree with his take on Ukraine?

Sounds like you need to move there. I'll pay your one way ticket you cuck

It's successful because of slave labor. He left that part off conveniently

They’re “successful” because they have total control over their population and what their wages are.
Do what?
I’ve started and run a company there for several years, starting in 2009. Hired many locals. The government didn’t have a single thing to say about who I hired or what I paid them.
I swear, some of you people have no idea what you are talking about. You see the word “communist” and you think it’s all Soviet or North Korean totalitarianism.

What are you, 12 years old?
Can you discuss this like an adult?

Here are a few quotes from Jeffrey Sachs during the COVID-19 pandemic:
“Neither the biology nor chronology support the laboratory-release story.”
Said that COVID-19 came out of,…”US lab biotechnology “
So if after reading that, you want to trust anything this guy has to say about China, then you are the fool.

Sounds like your mad I won't pay for your ticket. I'll get you a seat right beside him. Anyone who wants to sympathize with China has no business in this country. They unleashed a virus that killed millions and actively plot our demise. I get you make money there but to act like they are something better than they are is just wrong.

So if their form of government doesn’t view or respect personal property (ideas at the fore) as being personally owned , then they simply employ said free ideas and given their manufacturing power, make bank? It seems that the competing ideologies make ‘steal’ a subjective opinion?
No because if they had R&D to steal, they'd guard it (try and prevent people from "stealing" it). They know what they're doing is wrong.
quote:
It further seems that Trump sees this and uses tariffs to force payment for the ideas/R&D. IMO, given that much of our population is spoiled and/or work dysfunctional in many respects, and free as well to reject work given the social welfare benefits, then there is no way we can manufacture products cheaper and more affordable than the Chinese? I don’t see how we win this battle unless all those hungry immigrants are willing to compete with the Chinese people. Something is really getting blurry here in my end, in respect to possible solutions.
TF does any of this have to do with my original statement?
Whoever is speaking in that video is sucking off the Chinese, saying we're jealous of their success.
No, we're just angry those little fricks keep stealing from us and the rest of the world.
It's a simple idea to understand, I'm not sure why you're starting up whatever sort of conversation you're trying to have with me.
Did I say anything about tariffs? Populations being spoiled? Dysfunctional? Anything at all about social welfare programs? Trump? Cheaper manufactured goods?
You're not even spacing your posts, it's just one giant paragraph of thought spaghetti.
Go bother someone else.

No I hate China because they are asshoes
They have no rights for the average citizen, there are no private property rights, they commit horrible human rights abuses, they are communist/socialist, they killed 10s of millions of their own people, the list goes on shall I continue?

You can discuss all those things and still not sound like a child with the “It sounds like you love them” crap.
I’m not blind to their threats and manipulations. I’m just not an NPC about them.

Sachs is and always has been a far leftist Columbia prof
Posted on 5/1/25 at 8:37 am to Azkiger
My arguments and points are certainly not intended to “bother”, Az, but to address basic tangential aspects of the economic/cultural dynamics. And I’m typing on my phone and don’t know how to space paragraphs. I know, and admit my relative ignorance, but profess sincerity as well, as I believe that minus honest compromise it escalates to the historical competitive norm. And Global suicide as High Tech comes into play. Sorry for the bother.

China is the model of success now?
Using slave labor is a big big success, right?
Ethnic cleansing is also high on the list?
So stupid.

China is not really successfully, everything the do is a shell game. Their economy is on the brink, their birth rate is in the tank, the population is falling hard and young Chinese are anti government.
Doesn't sound like a lot of winning.

You've clearly never interacted with Chinese people. There are no such things as rules to them.
