Nah, that's not where you'll see the Russians retaliate. It'll be something more direct. You'll wake up one morning and read about, say, an American infantry patrol in Syria being wiped out by a short range ballistic or cruise missile. Speculation will be that the Russians gave it to the Syrians. It'll be something like that. The Pentagon will get the message. They'll double down, but they'll get the meaning: you supply arms to kill our soldiers, and we'll supply arms to kill yours. The border patrol getting killed by advanced Russian weaponry is not the message they'll want to send.

Sure. The country that is struggling to put together an army and is using city busses and mini vans to move degrading munitions to the front is sending “heavy weaponry” to Mexican cartels to…attack the US border!
