Poland is the one NATO country that isn’t going to allow Russia to frick around over there. They’re itching to kill some Russians. They can still go to war with Russia without invoking Article 5
If Poland sends troops into Ukraine and Russian shoots at them IN UKRAINE, that would not invoke Article 5.

But what if Russia responds by INTENTIONALLY launching missiles INTO POLAND. Article 5?

Russia is a belligerent, and Ukraine has been religious about NOT attacking into Russia. Would Russia be able to show the same restraint?

Reports are that Putin is using Stalingrad tactics now. Two or three lines of troops with the first being cannon fodder who are shot if they try to retreat.

If it was indeed Russian, I expect that any Article 5 implications are going to come down to Russia's reaction and their given intention.

As pissed as the Poles will be, NATO isn't going to war because some of Ivan's shitty tech went haywire. At least I would hope not.

ETA: Maybe Poland will start a mini-no fly or AA deployment along their border with Ukraine?

Poland has convened a national security council and may try to push Nato to invoke Article 5.

Obviously I don't see NATO taking that bait, but Duda/the Poles going to go absolutely postal.

I just do not see the NATO council agreeing that one errant missile constitutes an "attack" by the Russians.

But see my previous post. What if POLAND enters the conflict in Ukraine and Russia retaliates on Polish soil?

Why would this be a false flag? US/NATO winning the proxy war. This war is cheap compared to what an actual war with Russia would cost. Govt and MIC are both very happy.

I am no expert but I agree. Doesn’t seem like enough to justify war. Poland no doubt is allowed to be pissed over this, and they should be.

I think we are all in if Russia deliberately attacks Polish soil. Poland does have an interesting card to play, as they and Lithuania control all ground and almost all air access to Kaliningrad. Once Finland and Sweden join, NATO will almost entirely control the sea routes from St. Petersburg as well. I could see the Poles and Lithuanians cutting off all land and air access (except that coming via the international airspace over the Baltic)

Will Putin be able to show that level of restraint?

Can he NOT attack Polish soldiers staging on Polish soil for intervention into Ukraine?

TBH, I have been VERY impressed with Ukraine's restraint in not attacking legit targets just across the Russian border.

Yeah you’re right. There is a big difference in sending troops into Ukraine and them being shot at, then missiles landing inside Polish territory. I know the Poles won’t gaf, but I seriously doubt that Russia did this intentionally. Putin can’t fight a war against the West and I don’t think he’d try and do that at this moment. Russian military isn’t the best or most precise, so I could see it being them missing their target, but they missed fricking badly.

This was my one worry as to how this war really gets hot, is by someone doing something in Polish territory. I wouldn’t have been surprised if Belarus did something but wouldn’t have expected Russia to be the ones.

If he has any self-preservation instincts, yes. I think we all agree that Russia cannot defeat NATO in a military conflict.

Pretty much the same process in reverse, IMO. Attacking the Rodina is all the excuse Moscow would need to level the place.

I think its both.

Poland will have atleast some of every advanced tank system in existence. They went to the store and ordered 1 of everything on the menu.

My thoughts exactly. Zelenskyy has been able to resist. Can Putin?

It is like seeing the 14-point buck, JUST on the other side of the fence ....

That might be the saving grace here. Oopsie, sorry guys, it was meant for Ukraine. Our bad. We’ll shoot some conscripts to show that we’re accountable…
