Well, if a company has to pay educators that kind of money upfront, what are they really hiding?

This isn't new. The policy of using excess revenue for a teacher bonus already existed. It's just that the revenue was so much higher it triggered a $50k bonus.
Which is great and all, but this is from construction dollars that will go away. They need to capture that revenue and develop a long-term plan. They will need a lot more infrastructure (schools, parks, etc).

META isn't paying it as META, including construction, is exempt from sales tax.
But you can give them credit because the influx in labor driving the massive sales tax revenue boost is because of the construction. Now it's up to the locals to cash in while the boom is going.

Yea I just can’t interpret this as some great altruistic thing. Definitely other motives involved.

well it would have and those industries certainly help the states. The reason it didnt help the schools is all the money that came in from them......The state took the same amount and moved to the general fund. so everything stayed equal on the teacher/school side of the equation and the state got more money to give away to the BS they wanted

The government sucks at allocating capital. They just waste money because it's not theirs.
Elon Musk could donate $50 billion dollars to Louisiana education, and nothing would change. The money would all be stolen, wasted, misappropriated, spent on useless shite, etc.
And money doesn't solve education issues anyway. This country was built by people who were educated in one-room schoolhouses.
There is no data that shows that spending more money per student provides an improved return in education results.
