Rubio with the speech of his career. Something positive to start your weekend.

If you hate Ben Shaprio fine, leave now.
Ben reviews Marco after he give a speech outside the Acropolis in Athens, Greece... so beautiful a setting, it looked generated.
Rubio outlined how America's government, institutions, and civic ideals are directly influenced by Greco-Roman antiquity—pointing to classical architecture in Washington, D.C., and the Greek origins of the name Philadelphia. Shapiro reinforces his statement, noting how heavily early American thinkers drew from classical sources and the Bible
Marco warned against modern cultural currents that prioritize absolute safety and equality of outcome over greatness, cautioning that societies begin to decline when they "build downwards" and hold exceptionalism hostage to the mediocre ~ 03:20.
-----
He also criticizes modern Western nations for feeling ashamed of past achievements, tearing down monuments, and turning national pride into a source of guilt.
Never apologize to barbarianism and never apologize for greatness.
----
Contrasting Western heroism with extremist ideologies, Rubio notes that Western defenders are willing to sacrifice their lives out of a profound love and value for life and liberty, rather than a worship of death. ~ 8:40
PS - God, thank you for allowing me (and my father) to witness some of what is happening today.
Like always progressives: I love your downvotes... they are as salty as your tears.

Rubio nailed his speeches in Greece and Portugal …. he’s on a roll

While putting it out there is exceptional for him he doesn’t come across relatable/ personal as Vance. Both are incredibly talented as spokesmen and high bar has been set for Republican candidates. The bush / McCain / Romney types do not need to have a platform to stand in front of voters. They are impersonal

Vance (if that's his real name) is good friends with Peter Thiel, is married to a Brahmin Indian and his kids have Indian names, and had a feature film made about him at a very young age. Marco Rubio's son plays college football.
Rubio is far more relatable than Vance.

Just say you have no knowledge of Vance and using justifications on his family and connections. I have a very good friend of 50 years that watched the hardships of Vance as he grew up and attended Middletown, Ohio schools. He was a teacher there. But like I said both are incredibly talented in projecting strength

It's strange to me to that a neocon gang of eight guy like Marco gets so much praise on this board. I think he is LARPing as America First more than Vance, at least on some issues.

Rubio v Vance for the Rep nomination in 28 is going to be a sight to behold.

He is an outstanding reader. I can name many others who could have read that speech better, all of them not ever having been a member of the Gang of 8!!
But yes, Rubio did, once again, prove that wonderful minds create great speeches for him to read, hoping you will forget what he once was.

I don't love him but I'd vote Rubio over Vance 10/10 times. Definitely a bit of LARPing going on.
I wonder if the "based" young staffers thing that's been reported on is actually true and influencing this.

The fact that you don't like Rubio just reinforces my thought that he just might be the guy for 2028.
Dude, everybody is aware that Rubio did some things as Senator that we didn't like. He seems to have changed over time. But by all means, keep your head in the sand as usual.

So you hold all of the same positions you had at 20 yourself, right?

It would be ridiculous if we went with Vance over Rubio but we probably will because we are dumb

This place has to wait to see who Trump endorses so they can hate the other.

You are aware aren’t you that Vance was extremely critical of Trump? He changed, Marco changed how can you point fingers at one but not the other? And I think both are sincere now in their ideology.

Good point about JD.
I definitely have concerns about JD's big tech connections and handing the keys to our lives over to Thiel, et al. But, I trust him 10000x more than Marco on foreign policy as he will at least make an effort to keep the MIC at bay. I also think he would be a better president when it comes to domestic policies, but that is probably why we need to see their platforms/debates.

Hmmm...
While I like Rubio more than Vance, I still really like Vance.
I don't think Vance is less relatable because of the reasons you mentioned - especially if you read his book. If anything, it should make him more relateable.
Rubio, honestly, should be the next President, but I would love it if JD decided to be a career VP - no term limit on VP gig!
I think Rubio/Vance would crush.
