Trump has no doubt holed up in a dark room somewhere in the White House over this witness anxiety. I'm sure he's frightened at the thought of someone testifying that they're of the opinion and belief that Trump did those bad things.

It's the House's responsibility to develop the record. They chose to impeach when an inquiry hadn't yet been voted on, thus negating the validity of any subpoena issued. They also failed to pursue court rulings that would have significantly expanded the record. If a party cannot present sufficient evidence to sustain a charge, summary judgment is appropriate.
