@maggieNYT
NEWS: The RNC has told the Commission on Presidential Debates that it's preparing to require presidential candidates to refuse to take part in those debates, potentially leading to a significant change in how debates have been conducted for 35 years LINK

@ChuckRossDC
Harwood was in constant email contact with John Podesta during the same period he hosted a GOP presidential debate. Can't imagine why GOP has reservations about the debate process.

Replying to @JohnJHarwood
Did you run that by John Podesta before clicking Tweet?

Each presidential candidate should be able to pick the others moderator . Let’s see Biden have to deal with someone like Tucker or Candance Owens .

If candidates can't have a civil discourse on policy differences without a moderator, then they should be considered unelectable.

It's amazing the fake news media still hasn't gotten the memo that they're obsolete and no one is paying any attention to their screeching.

Remove the moderator. Computer reads question. Candidate's mic is turned on for set time period, when time is up mic turns off and audience can no longer hear even if he won't shut up.

There everything fixed.

Big part of the issue is having slanted questions

Mr. Trump, why do you hate the first amendment and why did you sell the country out to Russia?

So, in the span of 4 questions/follow ups, the candidates will face a softball and a fastball.

All the moderator does is direct the questioning.

Nice approach. Def need to stop having the Dems day they won't do it if one of the Rights major plays can't ask questions and repubs keep letting them go with whomever they want.

Only nice addition for the moderators tasks would be to also call out if the question wasn't answered, but only hot air changing the subject was done.

I wonder why. It's not as if there was a subpoena involved.

I'd watch that.

Presidential Debates should be like when you play charades. The only way to assure fairness in questioning would be if the questions were posed by each candidate - directly to the other.

The moderators should be federal judges, allowed only to keep time.

Media’s role should be limited to broadcasting the event

The other candidate. Give them a word limit per question

Or no moderator. Candidates get to ask each other questions. Computer controls microphone to keep them from over talking each other.

At the end, add a lightning round and the first candidate to buzz in gets to answer the question and only that candidate.
