The Democratic Party of Louisiana finally got its act together.
Republicans won supermajorities in the statehouse, every statewide official outside of Governor is a republican and they got rid of a few RINOs who was causing them problems in the process like Ryan Gatti for example.
What's more for next year is that democrats have no credible challenger to Bill Cassidy and Trump will win this state by comfortable margins.
And even further, John Bel Edwards will not be available to run again and there will be a much more disciplined, focused and stronger republican candidate for Governor that will not repeat the mistakes of 2015 and 2019.
quote:
My wife and I were called over 20 times during that period, called by Democratic operatives and volunteers. I worked phone banks (as a volunteer) six times during that time and made hundreds of calls to suburban Independents and Democrats in EBR, Jefferson, and St Tammany parishes. Most seemed to be undecided white folks and not one had voted for Edwards in the October primary. Most had not voted at all.
The Edwards campaign turned many of those people out and it helped a lot. Anti-Trump feeling helped with these people as well. Between 1/3 and 1/2 the people I called mentioned something negative about Trump coming to Louisiana so many times about our election. (We had a prompt question asking of the President influenced their opinion on the election.)
And even with all this running against a republican campaign that was run by incompetent morons that had no idea what they were doing, Edwards went from winning by 13 points in 2015 to barely eeking it out by 2 points in 2019.
Rispone flipped a quite a few parishes that went for Edwards in 2015 including the one I live in right now.

So are you a state employee, associated with a trial lawyer firm, on government assistance or suffering from white guilt?

I think you’ve stumbled upon how rural and depopulated LA has become.

it really is disheartening that just a couple of super concentrations of people can essentially control the entire rest of the state.
Parishes don’t vote.
Concentrations allow for better advertising penetration

If true, La deserves the dose of clap they just re-elected.
I think the producers in this state are outnumbered by the anchors looking for gubment handouts. Welcome to Detroit.

1508597 votes for Governor
1468551 votes for Sec. State
40,046(Difference)
(40,046 more people voted for the Governor's race than they did for Secretary of State)
774469 votes for John Bel Edwards
734128 votes for Rispone
40,341 (Difference)
(John Bel Edwards beat Eddie Rispone by 40,341 votes)
Somebody please explain does this make sense?40,000 people went to vote and only voted for the governor’s race?

Maybe Rispone should have taken Trump’s lead, gone into New Orleans and said, “what the hell do you have to lose?”
President Trump realizes that you need to engage those that don’t support you. Continuing the denigration and badmouthing of the state’s largest city will get you more of the same. Rispone didn’t have the political sense, the charisma, or the balls to do anything close to that.
Republicans need a brash fighter in this state. Unfortunately, this person most probably doesn’t exist.

Not going to say they weren't brilliant, because man they were exceptionally brilliant. Sometimes common sense is so rare we forget about it.
It made perfect sense for them to do this at that time as they saw damn well how their votes, or better yet desires in America didn't mean shite back home. So they did not want this to happen again.
Well, low and behold we have it upon is again. As another said earlier, I doubt they could envision a fricking centralized welfare state. How the hell could They? Corporate welfare was all they saw.
We need an electoral college in the state without question. Ask California about it.

As of 2018, EBR, Jefferson, Orleans, Caddo, and Calcasieu paid the highest amounts of revenue to the state. EBR, Jefferson, and Orleans paid far more than Caddo and Calcasieu.

Maybe the dead people were only allowed to vote for Governor

Got to overcome Orleans and EBR parishes.
Was listening to Michael Berry Show out of Houston. His 11.18.19 PM show actually brings up a conversation and attempt he had with Rispone campaign. It starts around the 1h 8m mark. His show airs in both BR and NOLA areas, so it might have helped get more voters to the polls.
Essentially, Michael had a few well to do people that wanted to back and endorse Rispone, so MB reached out to a senior campaign advisor. After their initial conversation he was never able to solidify anything or get more than a text back.
He was willing to interview Rispone, do rally's for him and as well provide additional financial backing.
Sounds more like Rispone's campaign was overwhelmed and not well ran. I have little doubt he was a better alternative to JBE. But he was not effective in getting voters interested in voting for him.

His margins in those parishes weren’t enough

Wanna know why?
Rispone ignored new orleans and jefferson parish. He could have gone there and put a big dent into the numbers but he arrogantly ignored them like a typical small minded, short sighted loser.
He should have cozied up to the right people in orleans and jefferson and he would have won it.
