I may be mistaken but I saw a TV report on the '65 one and it said people were surprisingly civilized. There was also another one in the 90s and things were about the same

Here is one news report from 1965.

Imagine news reports by candlelight today. I guess we have come a long way with backup power generation. I can recall the other big power outage back in 2003 and the networks in NYC having studio or at least newsroom power. I do remember NYC being civil in 2003.

Imagine a Democrat mayor saying this today, or any Mayor for that matter:

LINK

Chicago Mayor Daley, 1968:

quote:

Daley issued a directive that going forward authorities should “shoot to kill any arsonist or anyone with a Molotov cocktail in his hand because they are potential murderers” and “shoot to maim or cripple anyone looting any stores in our city.”

A bunch of young people acting stupid, this isn’t really that outrageous. But what is outrageous is these same young people think they have the wisdom to tell us about national economic and energy policy.

Makes sense they would target school buses, a symbol of the government schools that failed all of them so badly.

This is TERRIBLE. Imagine what Willis Reed and the 1973 Knicks would think of this - they must be outraged.
