I am looking at it from a more rational, pragmatic perspective, which is how a government overseeing people of a multitude of beliefs should probably view things.

You’re not bright. You don’t know how you’re looking at it. You think commonly held wisdom is truth. You’re a mile wide and an inch deep. Cheers.

Pretty sure he is Christian. I don't think the Christian Church ever recognized plural marriages.

The predecessor religion? You are absolutely correct.

How is marriage a government thing now? Oh that's right. Governments wanted to adopt the religious practice because the main purpose of marriage is to raise a family. The government and the people running it loved the idea of a larger tax base.
The earliest evidence of formal marriage goes back 4300 years. No one knows whether the original of a "formal" marriage relationship is civil or religious.

It’s unclear if any such distinction existed 4300 years ago.

It’s a majority opinion in the United States that gays should be allowed to marry.

They (the SoCons) are determined to never adapt and to continue losing winnable elections by remaining immovable on social issues.

But they so would win if these elections were held in 1987.
And they will continue to blame every loss on "fraud" rather than "unpopular stances on major issues."

Why do we even fricking vote?

And how often does something get 100% republican support with 1/4 democrat crossing party lines?

4300 years is just the earliest evidence that has been found to date. I would not be surprised if the institution is several thousand years older than that.

Initially, marriage almost certainly evolved in Neolithic communities (or earlier) to prevent conflicts over "ownership" of the women. Does it really matter much whether the relationship was sanctioned by the local chieftain or by the local shaman?

It's not my opinion. It's fact. This bill specifically protects churches and their tax exemption status.

I think the fraud is in the illegal votes. Like the Wisconsin Supreme Court said.

Are there any states that still ban interracial marriages? If not then why put this in the bill?

Didn’t lie and asked a question?

I mean you are one to call someone a liar.

Hell, you support a party that lives off of lies. Ever hear of the inflation reduction act? Yeah, what a doozy. How about all the green energy BS? Don’t ever call someone a liar again until I see threads of you calling out your party.

Let the figs suffer divorce like the rest of us. They think they’re winning…wait until they lose half their shite and the government shoves a dick up their arse…they might actually like that.
