The fact that this is somehow NOT news to NBC/ABC/CBS is even more damning.

The director of the FBI is being held in contempt of congress and somehow that's not newsworthy?

That's a big story all in itself.

Republicans continue feckless smoke and mirrors effort to hold FBI Director Wray in contempt of Congress over Biden document. They don’t actually want anything to happen to him either.

Didn’t the media go crazy when Mark Meadows was held in contempt of Congress?

It’s weird that Decatur doesn’t chime in these threads like he does the Russia threads

I bet the FBI declares Hunter Biden a confidential informant

Will bet my left foot they say the document is part of an ongoing investigation and they can’t release it.

Does anyone know the answer to this . . . I've had a long day and I'm too tired to research.

Does the DOJ have to bring charges of contempt?

Couldn't congress bring their contempt citation to a court and have them provide an order to FBI to produce?

My recollection is that Steve Bannon ultimately got arrested/prosecuted for contempt of congress, but what spurred it was that congress brought a motion to compel compliance, and he raised a privilege objection to a subpoena after he had been found in contempt of congress.

When someone doesn't respond to a civil subpoena I issue, I file a motion to compel compliance with the court, and then if they don't comply again, I can move for contempt of court.

Can Congress itself bring action against the executive to produce the damn documents? I seem to recall that the Nixon tapes and whether to produce made it to SCOTUS after Nixon refused to produce his tapes claiming privilege.

This

If I were Wray I'd post a video of me pissing on their subpoenas and contempt "charge"

If I even showed up for a hearing I'd be an hour late as I'd go to the pool first and walk in wearing swim trunks, flip flops and an ice chest full of beer

Not 100% sure, but it sounds like they can.
