Here’s what I don’t get. All you posters saying “god, murder, it’s wrong, etc.”…. I agree with you, I have the same beliefs.
But what makes us different is I don’t believe government should make laws forcing others to comply with my beliefs. I want a free America.
The difference is, I’ll stop abortion by passing Long my values to my children. You’re trying to stop it by having the government force you to.
How can you be for freedom and say the government should not allow it? Why does the government have to force YOUR beliefs on everyone?
For the idiots who want to reply “should murder be legal?”, murder being illegal is to keep society afloat. It’s necessary. And to those really stupid idiots who say “well abortion is murder”, you’re the reason we can’t have a real discussion about this topic when it comes to political races.
Once again, this is about POLITICS, not beliefs.

One of the main functions of government is to protect you from things you can’t protect yourself from. Military, border security, etc.
This applies to unborn children who as soon as the exit the vagina have every right but for some strange reason 6 inches back in the birth canal they don’t.
Unborn children should have every right that someone in a temporary coma with a good prognosis has.
Should the government interfere in someone’s ability to kill their mother who is in a temporary coma? That’s an easy yes.

This is absolutely garbage. In 99% Late term abortions (after 30 weeks) the mother planned to keep the child but had a terrible decision to make do to health of either her or the baby. It’s not as cut & dry as you try to make it
Health of her baby? I assume u mean mercy killing. Aside from that, if everyone agrees that late term abortion is abhorrent except bc of life and death circumstances then Biden can get a law passed now bc enough Rs will support a late term ban. We would essentially be exactly the same as Europe who essentially has a 20wk ban.
Why aren’t they floating that out there?

What did Republicans do about abortion?
And one of the reasons the Chamber of Commerce wants Mexicans and Guatemalans coming across the border is that we are falling below our replacement birth rate.

Is abortion ever morally wrong?
If it’s morally wrong, and it’s the taking of a human life, why can’t we legislate our values? That’s what laws are. It’s the legislation of moral values.

(1) abortion is a state right
(2) federal government shouldn't have a say in abortion
This is what we have now.

yes - it is morally wrong to use the abortion of a human being for reasons unrelated to health.
I do not push this back to the moment of inception however. - If birth control is ok, then an abortion is no different = for some reasonable period of time.
What that time is should be state issue.
It is time for personal responsibility for willing personal behavior.

That’s not my personal morality. But it’s a compromise I would be okay with.

A depressing number of people still can't grasp this.

A true conservative wants less government, so why are you fighting for a government that tells you that you cannot have an abortion? How about we teach values and morales so people don’t choose abortion instead of saying they cannot? The pro life soapbox will not carry into the future well.
Conservatives also believe in personal responsibility. Mom is free to pop a pill; dad is free to wear a condom. Both are free to abstain. We know how babies are made, and it ain't that hard to figure out how to avoid making one. That said, if you choose to engage in the act that may potentially result in baby making, even with protection, you are implicitly accepting a risk and thus the potential consequences. It is the role of government to protect the rights of those who cannot speak for themselves.

Do a little more reading on the actual case. Besides them using a mentally unfit woman as a scapegoat, they tried to shoehorn it in as a "right to privacy" ruling.
Gloria Steinem hated the original ruling, because she could see the 2022 overruling as being a possible result.
quote:
A person may choose to have an abortion until a fetus becomes viable, based on the right to privacy contained in the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Viability means the ability to live outside the womb, which usually happens between 24 and 28 weeks after conception.

The military protects the government and the country. The border is protected to protect the country and the government. It’s not the government’s job to protect the citizens in daily life.
The Constitution gives states inherent "police power" to protect public health and safety.
Similarly, courts have ruled that a police force is not responsible for your safety.

Yep = took some time for me to accept that.
So - I just compare it to delayed contraception - but that only holds for a short period of time.
what is 'short?'
but not 9 months
