Campaign finance money rules. There are entire industries based on campaigns. When do politicians raise more money? When their constituents are threatened with losing their way of life regardless of if they are a producer or a locust. It is a never-ending cycle of siphoning money from the people.

Republicans doing the whole “take high road” has lost a ton of elections for them. It may have worked for the old school generations who had morals but unfortunately it no longer works.
