I have only been to two african countries. Zambia and S. Africa. Zambia was just so poor, they didn't seem to have any trash to just throw away. I was mostly in rural s. africa and it wasn't that bad.

I haven't been to the ME.

Here's a nice little graph dated last year with 2010 results of the 12 most polluting countries in the world.

China was #1 with 8.8 million metric tons. The U.S. came in last at .03m metric tons.

exactly. the texas-sized plastic island in the pacific is as real as it gets and surely a greater hazard to mankind in general than some hypothetical 'warming' model that predicts something will happen in 50 years.

if al gore TRULY gave an actual shite about the environment rather than cooking up a snake oil carbon credit scheme to profit off, he would have spent his time and energy in trying to educate asia about ways to manage their trash.

instead you have some blue-haired dyke driving a prius in so california with 4 'boutique sized' buckets of carefully divided trash off to the recycling center believing she just saved the planet.

I would love for you to explain to me how a localized, albeit very large, pollution problem would have a greater impact on mankind as a whole as an entire global shift in climate?

It's over-spill from Pritchard's sewer system, so it's not really man-made chemical pollution, per se.

well first one has to close their eyes very hard and believe believe believe its going to happen in the next 50 to 100 years....

....vs the world's seafood market coming from tainted waters rife with plastic chemicals and heavy metals oozing into everything.

salmon, you've reached a new level of idiocy.

oh frick off. nobody is going to roll back anything already passed that keeps our air & water clean and the US has a stellar track record on cleaning our shite up and everyone else's too.

disingenuous much? you and salmon having lunch together today?

Don't move the goalposts.

Give me the science behind this.

I asking for you to explain your point.

I don't think you can. Prove me wrong.

well lets start with the 'DO NOT EAT' list of seafood

then we can move right along to

Plastic microparticles found in flesh of fish eaten by humans

quote:

The researchers noted that it had been estimated that “top European shellfish consumers” might consume up to 11,000 microplastic pieces a year.

explain to me

Plastics breakdown into microscopic nodes.
Nodes sink deep into the water column.
Little fish eat nodes.
Bigger fish eats little fish.
Repeat.
Fish feeds a significant number of humanity in developing countries.

How much bigger will this island of plastic be in 50 years and much of the world's population of fish could be contaminated or killed off from consuming a petroleum product. It's is a monumental and very visible problem regardless of political affiliation.

no no, tadpole. salmon says a controversial .01 degree rise in earth's temp over the next 100 years is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR more dangerous.

sure, how about a peer-reviewed study about toxicity in seafood from last year

your move.
